When is a blog not a blog?

"Blog" is an abbreviated version of "weblog," which is a term used to describe websites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog features diary-type commentary and links to articles on other websites, usually presented as a list of entries in reverse chronological order.

You have just saved me asking what in fact constitutes a blog. As you say, this one clearly isn't.

No it certainly wasn't a blog and I was puzzled why the OP chose to post the thread on that forum. Do many of the blogs on GN fit the description Jalima posted though?

None of the 'blogs' we have on here, and I mean the officially sanctioned ones as well as any posters put up, are blogs IMO. They are just exended posts.

It's all pedantry though. [shrug]

There was nothing wrong with the 'blog' this thread is aimed at. Quite good fun actually. Wish we'd heard some more.

We don't have real blogs in here. I suppose you could say each guest blog set up by GNHQ make one blog i.e. the GN Guest Blog, in that we have a blog where all the entries are written by guests IYSWIM.

That blogger does have her own blog site. It is not very interesting, jings, no more revelations, I don't think she has any special inside information. Much of it is like your exciting news about getting your hair cut, but more long-drawn-out, plus a bit of bitchiness here and there (I sought it out from nosiness. Won't bother again)

I might have got the wrong post. The thread I thought this referred to is still there. Totally as usual.

But it is now under "Chat" not "Blogs". GNHQ moved it. The blogs are for their weekly invited guest bloggers.
