My GD shares a bedroom with her brother and needs a battery powered clip on light so she can read while he is settling down. Anybody tried these. There are a couple of types on Amazon.
Has to be battery powered and suitable for 7 year old.

Yes, I got one from Ebay, but they're the same as what is on Amazon - there are loads on there for a small amount. Works great.

Here's the link, JessM. This is the one I paid £6 for, but it's even cheaper now

Jess - are you back in this country? They've got one of these in the Ageuk and Age concern shops at the moment. It's called "robotic" because it unfolds itself as it lights. Bought one each for grandsons and they love them.

And the best part, its only £1.59!!!

Yes J I am back in body and spirit thank you. Hope you are keeping well.
That would be a cheap present wouldn't it. So cheap that i could send a spare one. And one for her brother who will probably also decide he too wants to "read" in the dark.
He does 'read" one book . His love object, Peeshy, is a green sheep, sorry, peesh, and there is a picture book that goes with him. He knows it off by heart but sometimes it is "sheep" and sometimes "peesh". Very sweet.

Glad you're back safe and sound Jess.

Look, this is the light. It's £5 at Letterbox! www.letterbox.co.uk/20670-09152/led-book-light

I have a clip on light permanently packed in my overnight bag / vanity case; when we are travelling it is rare to find a hotel bedroom with adequate lighting for bedside reading. There was one, a year or so ago, in Vermont...
DH now uses his for his Kindle.

My daughter is always complaining that since she changed laptops and no lomger has a back lit keyboard, she needs the main light on a lot sooner than we do, so maybe this would be ideal for her to clip onto her laptop?

On one website it says "dont look directly at LCD light" - does this mean they are not safe for 6/7 year olds?

I think they'd be OK, Jess; they have to point the light AT the page, so a warning might be enough. I had, once, two small boys sharing a room, and would have given my cotton socks for something like that!
