I have received the signed copy I won, it is right up my street, thank you! He has signed it simply 'Hugh x', so I presume he gets just as fed up with writing his name as we do.
I hate wasted food with a vengeance, and it has recipes for things that even I, a very experimental cook, had never thought of, such as ice cream made from 'granny's leftover jam'. That got me eyeing up my extremely neglected ice cream maker.
On the thread I saw a post from someone who said, who on earth has all these (herbs and spices) ingredients to hand in their kitchen? Well, the answer is - I do. Anything I can't grow I buy - I must be one of Fox's Spices' best customers. I firmly believe that anything can taste good with the right condiments. He does have a list of what he considers to be store cupboard must-haves, and there too I agree. It isn't a huge list by any means.
As for the book - well, it even has a recipe for using up fish skeletons. No stock involved. I couldn't believe it when I saw it!
I thought this book would be destined for MiL, who devours cookery books as I devour thrillers (she never cooks and I never kill), but having seen it I think it is a keeper.
To think that London, or anywhere else for that matter, does not belong to any one demographic
I've got another 'keen'... Ouch!
