I was very pleased to receive this book by Katherine Webb a few weeks ago from GN.I had never read anything by this author before and so I was pleasantly surprised. It took me a while to get into it and when the murder occurred there seemed to be no motive for it and I did not particularly empathize with the victim. Two stories seemed to be running parallel until they intertwined near the end and I much preferred to read about Clemmie and her family rather than Irene, and I could not believe anyone would be given the nickname of Pudding even in 1922 when the story was set. However I became gripped by the storyline and had to read on.There was a twist at the end which was totally unexpected and it took me a while to get my head around it.The book was very well written. and the plot was developed well.Basically it was about Pudding and Irene trying to defend Pudding's brother who was the prime suspect but there is much more to it than that and I would heartily recommend this book.

Thanks for that, Greenfinch. I've just downloaded a sample to my Kindle. The Kindle version costs £3.99 by the way, if anyone wants to do the same.
