The book goes at a gentle pace but is very intriguing and well written. The narrative switches between modern day Maggie's life and her Grandmother Lillian's life and marriage. It's a very good lesson in following your dreams and is a highly enjoyable read.

Chapter 1 set the scene; from then on I was hooked! Great story interweaving the two main characters and their life experiences, leaving the reader deliberating on which option they would choose. Short chapters meant I could read a bit as convenient but the reality was once I started, I found it difficult to put down. A perfect ‘holiday read’.

Thank you very much for the book. I really enjoyed reading this book and thought the characterisation was very good. Whilst I thought it was fairly obvious which character the heroine would end up with, it was handled in such a way to keep your attention to the end. Much better than normal “holiday reading”.

So pleased to receive this book thank you. It’s not my usual reading genre but it’s always good to read something different. I really enjoyed it and the descriptions really conjures up the house and gardens. I have a clear picture of them in my head.
It has been a delightful holiday read and it’s been my constant companion since I received it.
Believable characters and I also liked the length of the chapters. Thank you.

Many thanks for my copy of “The Peacock Summer” by Hannah Richell, which is her 3rd Novel.

The dust jacket is a delight and gave me endless pleasure. Some of the characters are well drawn, though I found the telling of the story slightly luke warm, however, I was surprised by some of the twists in the tail.

Basically, a young woman, Maggie, returns home to nurse her elderly grandmother Lillian, (who lives in a huge but dilapidated country house,) and find a way of returning the house to its former glory, but of course nothing is as it seems.

Told from the perspectives of these two main characters, The Peacock Summer is a nice holiday read, with some good descriptive passages.

Thank you so much for this beautifully written book. I have just ordered another by the same author-"The Shadow Year". Credible characters, lovely interwoven multi-generational story which my mother read after me and could barely stop reading to eat!
