I won this book in a grans net competition,
It was one of the funniest books I've read in ages. The characters were well depicted and believable in a warts-and -all sort of way. At times it made me laugh out loud, especially the crisps argument bit. No wonder the title is in inverted commas on the cover.
I would recommend this book, definitely worth buying!

I am struggling a little with this book. perhaps because it is so true to life and well observed that I am unable to 'laugh'. However as I have a personal commitment to finish reading any book once started I will persevere. Looking for laughs, ever hopeful!!!

I also won this book in a recent competition. I always enjoy reading books by authors unfamiliar to me. I read the blurb on the back cover, and was delighted to read that the book was "brilliantly funny"; "Heart-felt and fantastically fun". Unfortunately, I was to find that was not the case for me. No laughs here - not even a smile raised. Perhaps this book was not for me.

Like Andrews, I didn't find this book as hilarious as the reviews suggested. Parts were funny and made me smile but no laugh-out-loud moments! The part that rang true with me was that it was set in a ' Centre Parcs' type place and we have just booked our first visit to one later this year. Hopefully there won't be any warring family groups there like the ones in the book.;-)
