Just heard her on Women's Hour- another book in Chocolate series- the Strawberry Thief.
I love this series- getting DH to download this onto my Kindle. I need something to cheer me up & this could be it!
Pure escapism.

The book of hers that I liked best is 'Gentlemen and Players'

Me to Ilovecheese and the other one ( goes with it) called Different Class. Brilliant.

I've only read "Gillespie and I" by her, loved it, so really should try some of her others. Did see the film "Chocolat" quite a few years ago, when Johnny Depp still looked good sad

Sorry to nit pick, but I think she's a Jane rather than Joanne, getting your Harris and Rowlings mixed up maybe? smile

Another Joanne Harris fan here. My favourite JH book is Five Quarters of the Orange , closely followed by Blackberry wine. They were not really part of the “Chocolat” series but there are some similarities in the settings etc. These 2 novels are quite a bit darker than the rest of her novels.

That's good news. I like Joanne Harris's books, all of the above as well as Lollipop Shoes.

Five Quarters of the Orange is my all time favourite JH book as well.

Love her books

Just finished the new book - The Strawberry Thief. 4th in Chocolat series & I suspect the last.
I have loved all the books except The Lollipop Shoes- which I found a bit slow.
This one ties up a lot of loose ends- no spoilers but it does make sense of some of the old story lines in previous books.
If it is the last I will miss Vianne but I have read all the books at least twice so this one will be an new ' old friend' 'in time.
I can read all her books time & time again - if I feel a bit down I reach for one of them!

Just finished Gentlemen and Players. Totally gripping! I'll be catching up on other JH books, as well as reading reviews and recommendations on here... shock

I've only just discovered her via an audio book of "A Different Class", absolutely excellentsmile must read "Gentlemen and Players" which I gather is a forerunner.

As per a previous post I had been mixing her up with another author, Jane Harris, also very good. I will have to read the books set in France, I saw the film "Chocolat" a long time ago, but given the favourable comments on here, I'm very tempted to try some of her others.
