Just finished a Hania Allan detective story about a Polish detective , so good that I finished it in 2 nights ! She's a Fife based writer but her crime area is usually Dundee , this is her 3rd book , brilliant stuff !

Tiredoldwoman, have you tried the books set in and around Kintyre, by Denzil Meyrick? I love them, but you need to start with the first and read in order.

Good morning Hellogirl11, yes I tried one but the Scottish dialogue irritated me eg . " Aye, did ye no ken that ?" " I'm awa' tae see a man aboot a dug" type of speech from a detective .
My sister loved and recommended them all so I'll maybe ' gie it anither birl !!

I`m not Scottish either, but find it easier to understand the written, rather than the spoken word!

Tiredoldwoman, I guess you may like to read "A MIRROR ABOVE THE ABYSS" by Oleg Lurye. It's a thriller book with an exciting ending, so there are crimes, assassinations and so on. You can learn more about it here: www.amazon.com/dp/B094NMRWPJ?tag=gransnetforum-21
