My dear mum lost her battle with Alzheimers early this morning.

She had been very poorly for several weeks, the carers said "She's a tough old bird" I'm releaved her fight is over.

Rest in peace mum.

Just the way we felt when my mil lost the same battle, and my mum hers (although she did not have Alzheimers) - so sad, but for the best.

RIP ninathenana's mum.

As others have said, even when it is a release, it is nevertheless hard to lose your mother. I found it something I felt all the more because, like all of us here, I was a mother myself. However, from what you have said about her Alzheimer's. I guess you may have "lost" her a while back. Every sympathy flowers

Nina flowers. The others have said it all for me.

Ninathenana, I'm glad you've been able to tell us about your mum. I hope that soon you'll be able to look back on the times before she became ill and reminisce on the good times. Take it easy now, and be kind to yourself. flowers xx

flowers Nina There are no real words of comfort at a time like this but I too am so very sorry to hear of your loss - the previous posters have said it all.
I am sure your Mum is in a better place but, as I know from losing my Mum, there is still a massive gap in your life. Alzheimer's is such a cruel thing so it is a relief for Mum but it will take you a little time to get used to not having the visits etc.
My Mum died over three years ago and even now, we find ourselves saying "Wouldn't Mum have enjoyed seeing this?" or "Wouldn't Mum have loved that?" My advice, if any, is to keep remembering the good times.
I don't know if you have family but I am very lucky in that my husband, our own children and grandchildren (Mum's Grand and Greatgrand-children) feel comfortable to mention her name and we often laugh together when we remember happier times.
My thoughts, prayers and huge ((((hugs)))) are there for you flowers

Sorry to hear of your loss Nina.flowers. I hope you will be able to remember the good times you spent with your mother.

My profound sympathies too Nina. flowers

I think it was Germaine Greer who said that you are not an adult until you are an orphan and maybe that is what you are now, as I was, when my dear Mum died in 2004. It did take some time to come to terms with it. I hope you can remember her how she was before this awful illness got hold of her.

GillieB Sun 26-May-13 14:49:38

My sympathies, too, Nina. Always difficult to cope with.

dustyangel Sun 26-May-13 15:00:31

My sympathies too Nina, the others have expressed things so well. Staight after my Mum died I found myself needing to buy bunches of daffodils to have at home, something both she and I loved. So flowers for you in her memory.
