Care and Support Bill

The new Care and Support Bill will be going through Parliament in October. The idea seems to be to bring all adult care under one law replacing the present complex system.
This is an opportunity to improve things for carers too. Personally I would never have obtained Continuing Care for my mum if it weren't for Gransnet support. This isn't the way it's supposed to be!
Letters to Norman Lamb, present Minister of State for Care and Support, will give him ammunition to improve the lot of carers. Carers need to be recognised as such and given the support and information they need without having to fight for it when they have enough else on their plates.
Sorry, I haven't expressed myself very well. I've just been trying to précis down a letter to Mr Lamb to a reasonable length!

Great news Nfk Imo carers are often regarded as second class citizens. It is about time they were recognised and given the support they deserve.

There is lots of information on Ageuk website about the Care Bill. Of course now that Andy Burnham has said that he wants to combine the two parts of the service, the Tories will try hard to wriggle out of it.
I was reading an interesting article about the history of the Health Service, and noticed that the reason the GPs did not want local authorities to take over the financing of the NHS was because they would politicise it!

It's a good time to write to Norman Lamb about personal experience of the lack of co-ordination within the caring profession. And most of all the prevarication when it comes to funding, the way carers are isolated, and the numbers falling through the net. Especially when it comes to mental health.

I agree Nfk and I will write to Norman Lamb.
