Help with costs?

My Dad is shortly going into a care home - initially for short-term respite - but it may become permanent. He is above the savings limit to have his care paid for - but does that mean that he will get no help at all? He doesn`t currently require nursing care but a friend has told me he might be able to get a contribution towards some of his costs. Where can I find out more and who do I need to talk to about this?

Talk to AgeUk - they are brilliant!

When my mum first went into a home and was self funding she got about £5 pw for incontinence pads.

I looked up some of these retirememt homes but found them all too expensive when adding the maintenance cost etc. But I am over the limit for help, so I hope my poor sons will not have to fork out for me, when the time comes.
