Is there any help out there? We're not eligible for financial help, but emotional support would be good. My husband has had his 6 months review today and the review team just didn't want to talk to me. Just thrust a leaflet in my hand. It's been hard going but easier now, but I think the review team should listen. It was just a tick box exercise really. The local rehab team have been very good, but my husband doesn't see so much of them now, and I have no family here.

How seriously has your OH’s stroke left him?
Physically? Mentally and emotionally? You don’t say if you have to go out to work or if you care for him at home and it would be helpful to know if he might benefit from attendance at a day centre or other recreational activities.

Havre you looked at what these people can offer?

Have you had a Carer’s assessment? This is not just about money. Contact adult social care at your local authority. Also look for a Carers Centre near you. Carers Trust and Carers UK are potential sources of help and support for you and will be able to direct you to local network partners. Feel free to pm me if you need further info.
Take care of yourself.

My husband is recovering well, and I work part-time, but I'm peeved that the 6 month review team did not seem to want to speak to me, and stood up to go when I was about to get my list of queries. As the sole carer I felt ignored. Moreover, we had no idea of the professional qualifications of the 2 people who visited - I suspect they are admin people, and not medically qualified, abut I don't know, as they never introduced themselves properly. I am unhappy about this as we thought the review was an important milestone for us, and an opportunity to discuss recovery, further goals etc. It was quite insulting to have strangers come into one's home and not engage in helpful chat - just tick their own boxes.
