Charity begins at home

For anyone who saw the BBC documentary 'Poor Kids' it's a reminder that there are still children leading wretched lives in our own country because of poverty.

Perhaps even worse than simple poverty is the situation of children whose lives are disordered by problems of their parents - alcoholism, drug addiction and mental illness.

Around 100,000 children under sixteen run away from home each year. It may be just for a night, or indefinitely. Some 'sofa surf' others end up on the streets.
