The Media - Typical!!!

The Daily Mail - I read it on line for a laugh at their right-wing, biased, exaggerated reporting. Then I calm myself down by reading The Guardian.

You're soooo right Joan ... . I'm an Independent girl myself but I run through them all online just to balance out the opinions or 'facts' ... hahaha!!!

No - that reporter clearly didn't want her important emotional issues distorting by facts!

The DM article betrays all the old myths and outdated perceptions of the past. Today's grandmothers are re-writing the rules and many are simply regarding 'age' as no more than meaningless digits on a page.

I raised a family of four and then went off to Oxford, in my fifties to read for a Masters. It was tough to leave family and friends. But trudging off to lectures and 'pulling an all nighter', to finish an essay, was fantastic! I was exactly where I wanted to be, exhausted or not.Younger students often sought advice and counsel from us (the wise ones) as they called us.
In demographic terms, the population is ageing which will require a cultural and philosophical reassessment of what it means to grow older with wisdom and confidence. The old terminology really does not capture the vigour and confidence that imbue the new generation of revolutionary grandmothers who defy random definition.

You grannies should all Know Your Place. How dare you have an independent life? Get back into the kitchen and the nursery where you belong!

The writer claims to be a gran so shame on her for missing the point of this place...she took the easy route of picking a stand and ignoring the contrary evidence!

Oh my god! What a stupid article! I know how the celebs feel now when they get a bashing in the press.

I'm going to go back and try and put that daft woman straight.

The lesson to be learnt is don't read The Daily Mail, I too read the Guardian and ignore the rest. When I meet anybody who starts on about the state of this country etc. I always ask, are you quoting me The Daily Mail, if so please stop. I so dislike that newspaper, I was extremely pleased that Paul Dacre wasn't invited to the Royal Wedding.

I've posted my comments about this pile of poo in Am I Being Unreasonable. I fear that if I make any more comments I will go from merely being unreasonable to downright, choleric, rage. Which so isn't good for the soul.
