Do any of you ever put porridge oats in your crumble toppings?

I used to put muesli in my topping, nice and crunchy and a bit of dried fruit too.

Nice isn't it, chrissy? It was my Scottish mother-in-law who first gave me that idea.

My husband has porridge every morning for breakfast - and oats go into just about anything he can get away with, but always into the crumble topping. It's just delicious.

I will make another one now, adding oats.

I laugh in the face of fatness.

Just made some of my famous (yes it is!) flapjack. I added a couple of handfuls of blackberries that DD picked in the garden. I let the brambles grow in the hedge — helps keep the cows out — but I discourage them elsewhere. They're very persistent though. Just as well the fruit is nice. I'm taking a batch to the Quiet Corner, which is very quiet these days.
