Goldie Hawn and her mouth

She was on womans hour the other day, can't remember what she was talking about though....................can anyone enlighten me?

I like Goldie Hawn. She is over here promoting her new book and a programme of mindfulness for school children. Looks interesting and the programme has been adopted by many schools. The book is 10 Steps to Mindfulness. Mumsnet had a web chat with her on Monday, quite interesting if you want to sneak over and have a peak. I also think she looks great for a 66? year old, wish I looked half as good.

I think the report said that her 'mindfulness' programme was being tried by all of six schools. I am inclined to agree with flowerfriend and also to suspect that her looks owe something to the surgeon's knife.

I would say that not much of her own face is left . The mindfulness thingy sounded quite good though.

Annobel ...........or Botox. I am nearly at my 65th birthday and I have no desire to look like Goldie Hawn. I should perhaps like to look like the Goldie of about 35 to 40 years ago.

The mouth is her's (can't vouch for the rest). Michael Parkinson called it a 'velvet mousetrap' when waxing lyrical about her - she was in a film called 'Cactus Flower' over 40 years ago.

We started teaching 'mindfulness' to angry and violent offenders a few years ago, with some success. Good to see a version of it is being gradually introduced to very young children with behavioural issues, before they get set in their ways and start flinging desks around.

So we're going to teach children to navel gaze at what age? Six, seven?!

That's all a load of drivel Jings - you know what these Americans are like with their therapy. Mindfulness is just a few techniques for learning how to control your own emotions so you don't lose your temper and see red. Very handy for little kids who have learned to kick off and be rewarded with sweets!

It's jujst normal primary schools they are introducing it in! I don't want my grandkids to sit around wondering if they are happy, and learning how to handle "stress".

There's only 6 schools it's been trialed in so far, and it won't be mainstream - it's a method for helping children who struggle to control their emotions when they get upset or angry, so they would be given separate sessions to moderate their behaviour. I haven't heard anyone say it's going across the board, but they did mention some teachers being trained up to use this method.

Jings Very well put. It was what I was feeling but failed to convey. I still think she is odd looking around the mouth.

Well I suppose none of us can really help what we look like I know I will never be on the cover of Vogue but I do agree that I really only want actors and sportsmen to talk about their own subject and preferably not when they have just come of the sports field as they talk such drivel when full of adrenaline and a lot of drivel without I think! I think some actors play a role and then really believe they are that person a doctor or analyst or something and American actors and some of ours have all but disappeared up their own fundament with the sheer wonder of their being.

I don't doubt that the MindUp Campaign is making Goldie Hawn and Co. considerable amounts of money in the US. And that is why she's over here now, promoting it.

I just hope that education funds are not invested in it here. It will be one of those here today and gone tomorrow things.

I am sure people working with disturbed children already have similar strategies that they use.

Butternut I agree - people are referring to it as therapy and it isn't - it's a form of classroom management for teachers who find that some children lose the plot and struggle to regain control. If the child has genuine behavioural problems, they need 'proper' intervention.
