Emoticons as punctuation

I find I quite like using emoticons as punctuation. By which I mean that if I want to put a wink at the end of a post or sentence, I don't usually think it needs a full stop as well. Has anyone else found this?

Yes - especially if it's a grin - it doesn't really need an exclamation mark, either. I still tend to put one in though.....confused.....(!)

I think it is OK eithe way. If you think it matters Bags put it in Pedants but then you would if you thought it did! smile !?! grin

Oh, quite, alison grin Each to their own as far as winks and smiles, etc. go.

Now I want to remove the . after the etc because it seems superfluous even though I know it's correct.

Oh! how will I cope? The stress! The stress!

wink

.

^ superfluous full stop, sort of just in case.

Oh Bags I really like the . after etc. It's very satisfying. (Should I have put two there as it was the end of the sentence? confused again.

And isn't it annoying when you realise you've forgotten to close your brackets? confused
