Been to the Garrick tonight and somebody reported me to the police for drink driving.
Unaware of this I drove back towards Sutton Coldfield and got stopped and the reading came up nil as expected as I have not had an alcoholic drink for about a week.
It may be amusing to these idiots but would they have liked it if the police were needed elsewhere to deal with something urgent possibly one of their relatives while they were looking for me.

Looks like you have made an enemy of someone Frank

Greatnan Thu 21-Mar-13 02:55:44

Never!

baubles Thu 21-Mar-13 06:58:28

Frank, I just don't know how you cope with the drama that is your life. Mine is so boring by comparison.

shock shock

glammanana Thu 21-Mar-13 07:40:11

The mind boggles !! how do you know someone reported you I'm sure the Police did not tell you, anyway why is it a waste of time there was obviously a chance a test may have proved positive,I am not insinuating that you would drink and drive but the Police have to be 100% sure its their job,you pay for their services in the Council Tax that you pay up front from your London Pension.

HUNTERF Thu 21-Mar-13 07:50:09

The police do have to give the reason why they have stopped you.
The officer did say if there had not been a complaint they would have not carried out any test as it was obvious I had not been drinking.

Frank

glammanana Thu 21-Mar-13 08:03:23

Right then but that that does not stop them from doing their job does it ? how would you like it if a traffic accident happened and they just thought "oh its obvious this person has not been drinking" and not test them,my brother is of the opinion that he caught more over the limit drivers who "looked normal" than those who drove eratically.

Bags Thu 21-Mar-13 08:12:09

Frank, what was your persecution complex about before all the crazy house business andpeople complaining about you to the police?

HUNTERF Thu 21-Mar-13 08:25:25

glammanana

I do not object to the police doing the breath test.
What I object to is the person who reported me and the wasting of the police time.
Obviously the police officers who stopped me had wasted their time because they had been looking for me.
The other issue is there may have been other police officers looking for me as well in police cars.
I don't know if the person said I was heading to Sutton Coldfield but they would have had to check 2 routes.
I know a drink driver is a high priority.
I know there are ANPR camera's about which they may have picked me up on but I am not sure if there are any between Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield.
They may have had a police car waiting near my home as well but as I was stopped about 4 miles from home it would have gone by the time I arrived.
This was almost as bad as making a hoax call to the ambulance or fire service.

I am sure that the Garrick is a private members' club so I am puzzled as to how one of your tribe of persecutors managed to follow you in there. Mind you, it seems a long way for you to drive not to have a drink, but maybe you were in London already for some other reason. confused

gillybob Thu 21-Mar-13 08:42:16

I think perhaps he was collecting the London pension. Absent

You just can't trust the banks these days.

There are a obviously a lot of people out to get you Frank and I would be wondering what next. I do hope you haven't had any weird messages made up of letters cut from newspapers and magazines ! shock

Garrick lived in Lichfield. There used to be a plaque on the library. He did say Lichfield

The Garrick in Lichfield is a theatre. Try looking for it on the internet.
The last time I went to London was about 2 years ago by train on a discounted ticket.
I meet my friends from work outside London now.
None of us live there so it makes no sense to pay high London prices for meals etc.

Galen

I have not noticed the plaque on the Library but I will have a look the next time I take Andie for a walk there.

BAnanas Thu 21-Mar-13 09:10:57

If you are referring to David Garrick, he also had a splendid house on the Thames at Hampton, again with a plaque on the outside, drove past it yesterday. A snippet of information which is probably totally irrelevant to the main content of this thread!

Ariadne Thu 21-Mar-13 09:33:50

Hardly matters...

absent Thu 21-Mar-13 09:55:21

Surely the club in Covent Garden is the only Garrick that people would refer to without specifying any further. I thought it was out of character for Frank to be a member and pay the annual fee.

j08 Thu 21-Mar-13 09:55:52

Frank, why don't you go and talk to the police about all this. You are being harrassed. And now the perpetrators are wasting police time, which is a serious offence.

I don't understand why you don't try to do something about it.

j08 Thu 21-Mar-13 09:57:01

It would be the local police absent. The Garrick is probably well known in the area.

HUNTERF Thu 21-Mar-13 10:06:48

j08

I am going to talk to the police.
I will be visiting the station later on.
Wasting the time of the emergency services could cost lives.

Frank

Ana Thu 21-Mar-13 10:11:49

Would that last visit to London (on the train) be the same one where you wanted to drive your car on the roads, with your friend following in his lorry, but the roads were blocked because of the royal wedding, Frank ? confused

HUNTERF Thu 21-Mar-13 10:18:59

Ana

No it was not.

Ana Thu 21-Mar-13 10:22:42

Oh.

absent Thu 21-Mar-13 11:18:28

j08 The theatre may be well known locally but Frank cannot sensibly assume that it is known to the rest of us when he posts "Been to the Garrick tonight…".

absent Thu 21-Mar-13 11:20:39

I can't see that there would be any point in bothering the police about this as whoever reported Frank as DUI could simply apologise and say that they were mistaken but genuinely believed that he was. The police really won't want to bother pursuing it.
