Raining in north Leicestershire and guess who has to go shopping sad. Anyone any ideas for a small present for DH's birthday next week?

Sook Wed 31-Jul-13 07:19:01

Good morning, it's raining here too. I am off to the Nantwich Show with DGC. It's the biggest one day event of it's kind in the country.......All say cheese grin

kitty my DH is currently enjoying his second childhood so one of his birthday presents was a sweet shop sized jar of Jargonelle pear drops (his favourite). Kept him quiet for ages and hasten to add he has all his own teeth grin

Good morning - hot day brewing here but very pleasant outside at the moment. The last couple of nights have been cooler and so easier to sleep. Happy shopping Kitty

Morning, I woke up at 6.30am feeling chilly!
It's dull and cool now, but the sun should be back tomorrow so that's ok!

PRINTMISS Wed 31-Jul-13 08:12:37

Good morning, dull here and cooler - like you Ella woke up decided chilly in the night, got back to sleep quite quickly though. Heatwave tomorrow we are told. Enjoy your days.

Good morning all. Overcast and grey here in Manchester. Yet another day planned removing the anaglypta from the hall and stairs and hopefully this dreary old task should be completed by the weekend. Don't anyone tell me I don't know how to enjoy retirement grin

Drizzle. Can't see the Chanel let alone Wales! Work again. Hope it's better than yesterday. All depressives and alcoholics. I'm starting to wonder if there is anybody out there who is happy and fit?

gillybob Wed 31-Jul-13 08:52:53

Oh Sook Jargonelle Pear Drops are my absolute favourites too! Can DH spare a virtual quarter for me please? smile

Sunny start here on the North East coast. No doubt a repeat of yesterday with storm clouds gathering and heavy rain followed by sun, followed by rain, followed by sun................

Just to let everyone know my mums operation went well yesterday. Bless her she has to have 4 hrs of Dialysis this afternoon which is horrible after such a long operation. Thank you to all who have sent their good wishes. smile

CelticRose Wed 31-Jul-13 09:28:01

Hi all. Newbie here. Like your chat rooms. Where can you buy these Pear Drops from? Never heard of them before today. Must be the sheltered life I have lived - or the permanent diet I am on. Give your mum a big hug from me Gillybob. I wish her well. Weather looked promising at 7.30 nice clear day and light breeze here in north Bucks, so I took the Yorkies out for their morning constitutional nearly two hours ago. "Dodger" lived up to his name and disappeared in the corn fields. In the meantime, the south westerly blew stronger and had a competition with the sun to see who could make me use my coat. 0 to wind and sun - 10 to the rain that joined the game. .

Hi CelticRose welcome, but I got sent to sit on the naughty step for the use of the word"chat" and told we have forums.Hope you enjoy a long stay.

Stansgran Wed 31-Jul-13 09:38:36

Sunny start here in Durham. I think they've already started fracking here in the desolate NE( as Osborne's FIL said) . From 8am yesterday to 6 pm the pounding of ?jackhammers ?pile drivers on the old bus sheds. It is driving me into a tense screaming in my head wreck.

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 09:41:41

Top of the morning one and all .

sunshine here , well a little !!

CelticRose Wed 31-Jul-13 09:50:48

Thank you Nonu and Ann. Duly noted Ann. My apologies. But I just followed the link that said "chat" in the "forums". Spending a lot of time at the moment wandering through the forums. Very addictive reading all the posts. Even worse trying to join in and being extra careful with wording so as not to cause offense. Have made a mental note to try and keep remarks light hearted.

annsixty Wed 31-Jul-13 09:54:02

Don't worry too much I was only joking.

Anne58 Wed 31-Jul-13 09:54:52

Morning all, I don't think I will be having the roof down today! sad

CelticRose Wed 31-Jul-13 10:22:24

Thanks, Ann. Look forward to many brew cupcake with all.

CelticRose Wed 31-Jul-13 10:38:06

Hi Stansgran. To my shame. I visited the NE for the first time last month. What a beautiful part of the world. What history you have! I imagine that fracking - like mining - is going to make someone very rich. Never mind what it will do to further erode that coast line. Come to think... geological reports now indicate that fracking WILL be harmful right down to the earth's core. Why is it in this country we are mindful of the Earth, yet watching Ross Kemp chasing pirates and seeing the destruction caused by and in such third world countries is totally disregarded. Did I mention nuclear testing. This earth surely cannot stand such abuse for much longer. Some geologists say too much damage has been done already. Just reading what I have typed and I think I will have to change my name to either AngryRose or ThornyRose. Now going to calm myself and watch "Coast" in the Hebrides.

harrigran Wed 31-Jul-13 10:40:57

Welcome CelticRose
It is a comfortable temperature today. I think it may rain very soon, the window cleaner has just been.

kittylester Wed 31-Jul-13 10:57:49

Welcome Celticrose have fun! smile

Good news gillybob presumably things are looking up despite the dialysis?

numberplease Wed 31-Jul-13 15:59:42

Gillybob, good news re your mum.
Welcome CelticRose, are you a Celt?
Sorry, weather report, dull, a bit rainy, and a fair bit cooler, but it`s welcome after all the heat lately. Forecast warm again tomorrow.

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 16:13:06

GillyBob XX to you and Mum .

CelticRose Wed 31-Jul-13 16:35:47

I have been researching my ancestry and, apparently, can call myself a non-Gaelic Celt of Briton. During this century, I acquired an Irish-born father but have never been to that country unfortunately. The rose part is that pertaining to English heritage. But mainly I chose the pseudonym because of the Irish lace crochet work that I do. Must be in the blood after all.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

Strangest weather here. Just waiting for the thunderstorms, I think. It is very pre-monsoon weather. Wonder what winter will be like.

baubles Wed 31-Jul-13 17:15:34

Glad your Mum's OP went well Gillybob smile
