There are a lot of us on our own.
The last party was aborted due to greatnan's death !
Is anyone interested in one?
The venue I suggest should be

BALMORAL

Galen will this be with or without the queen's company because I do not think I can come as I do not have suitable attire.

AlieOxon Sat 28-Dec-13 21:48:03

How now, ye secret, black and midnight hags - are yez up for it?

Ana Sat 28-Dec-13 22:40:12

I'm none of those, AlieOxon...can I still come? confused

Anne58 Sat 28-Dec-13 23:10:47

I usually hate New years Eve with a vengeance, but feel I should perhaps make the effort this year, if only to make sure the damn thing has actually gone, and won't be coming round on some sort of diabolical loop.

merlotgran Sun 29-Dec-13 00:05:45

How about Sandringham. They'll still be there so we can gatecrash? tchgrin

Ariadne Sun 29-Dec-13 06:39:58

Mmmm, didn't we go there once before?

Where I live, which is near to Phoenix, New Year is celebrated with a vengeance; the old bridge and the Quay are closed to traffic and there are crowds of people. It's all very jolly, but not my scene. I'll be glad to hear the last fireworks!

But Theseus, being a Scot, reverts to type and feels he must stay up, so I could nip up to Scotland and leave him to it.

After the non event that was Christmas I could do with a good party. Can I come please. I promise not to come empty handed tchwink

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 09:42:08

Witches on the roof - or elegant ladies in the ballroom?

Charleygirl Sun 29-Dec-13 09:45:03

Alieoxon you know the answer to your own question, the former of course!

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 09:47:58

Yes, I don't think we managed an elegant party yet!

glammanana Sun 29-Dec-13 10:05:15

Time to dust off the pearls & tiara's I think Galen

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 10:12:44

“I should like balls infinitely better,' she replied, 'if they were carried on in a different manner; but there is something insufferably tedious in the usual process of such a meeting......."

Oldgreymare Sun 29-Dec-13 10:14:18

But we must 'dress up warm' I seem to remember Her Maj is rather fond of the twin bar electric fire!
I have my tiara ready (made it at a WI craft day) it's very glittery smile

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 10:23:18

Witches, ladies - let's have both!
And if things get a bit mixed up on the stairs..........

Charleygirl Sun 29-Dec-13 10:32:02

My tiara will be fine with my trousers and sensible shoes. It is always cold and draughty in these palaces and castles. They do not have the amount of insulation and heat that I have.

LizG Sun 29-Dec-13 11:32:32

I wonder if I can borrow my daughter's new top, it's cream and gold and very glittery. Tiara....now where did I put ..........

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 11:47:21

Can you put a tiara on a pointy hat?

Galen Sun 29-Dec-13 11:51:03

Is every bodies transport in good nick?
Have you checked the antifreeze levels?
Are the broomsticks polished and has someone sharpened the scythes on the chariot!
Are the tardis and the inflatables coming?
And the burning question of the day ---
Is Donald the cat/dog going to be there?

newist Sun 29-Dec-13 11:58:06

Can I come please ?. What with the weather, and no internet for nearly a week, I am feeling a bit isolated in the Atlantic smile

Galen Sun 29-Dec-13 11:59:52

Where are you in the Atlantic? Do you have transport or do you need a lift?

newist Sun 29-Dec-13 12:02:58

Oh a lift would be lovely, go up to Skye then turn left. grin

AlieOxon Sun 29-Dec-13 12:08:52

Anybody can give me a lift? My transport still has a hangover from Christmas Day....
Any one coming up from south of Oxford?

newist Sun 29-Dec-13 13:05:09

Could we not hire some kind of vehicle, possibly of the magical kind, so all could have a lift, working out the locations of the pick ups could be tricky, but I am sure , someone could do it grin

Charleygirl Sun 29-Dec-13 13:13:06

Not a problem, I have been reading my star signs for next year and being a Virgo, practical and methodical, it is easy, peasy. I do not drink and drive and as I drink so little I am happy to drive if everybody has a strong heart and take their medication first.
