Birthday wishes

Hello Ashmore32 and welcome to Gransnet. Sounds as though you had a tough time last year.
My youngest son was 22 in December. In the past it's been a tradition to put the Christmas tree up on his birthday, but as he lives away from home now (he's at uni, but has a flat rather than just term time accommodation) I guess that's a tradition that we may not keep. Even if I've spoken to them or been with them the day before, my children always like me to contact them on the day of their birthdays, but that's about it for traditions in our house.

I always used to like to make sure they have a present to open as soon as they wake on their birthday

Wherever our children/grandchildren/my sister are on their birthdays we always telephone them and offer a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday. If it is too early in the morning this can prove horribly out of tune.

Mother's Day this year I have just found out is my youngest sons birthday so might have to treat him to a Sunday lunch out too! Perhaps he can choose this year as long as it's not fast food!
My oldest today is now 22 and 2 hours old. I phoned him up at half past 10 as he is off today.

Oh you young grans! My senior GD was 22 on New year's eve and her dad, my DS1 will be 43 in 3 weeks' time. You know you are getting old when your children are middle aged, though I must say he is wearing very well - leaner and fitter than I have ever seen him!

annodomini my DGS2 was 23 on New Years Eve his elder brother was 24 the October before they seem to have grown up all at once,my DD will also be 43 this year but not until July,1971 must have been a busy year

It's my youngest's 19th birthday next Monday, we are going to see him at uni this Saturday and take him out for a meal and to the cinema. I suppose we are very honoured that he wouldn't prefer to be out with his friends, although he is going out with them on the actual night. At least, I thought we were honoured until I remembered that unless he agreed to see us he may have thought that he wouldn't get his presents!
This week every year is just dire for us, it almost bankrupts us. It's my Mil's and FiL's birthday (last Monday), then my stepfather's tomorrow, my mother's on Sunday, then my son's and of course not only is my BiL's next week but it ends with Mothering Sunday. So I come pretty low in the pecking order after that lot.
