..... today I became the mother of a 40 year old - which is bad enough, but when I opened my eMails this morning, the first one was entitled "Plan your Funeral". shock

A week today I will be the mother of a 44-year-old, Marmight. Just had a look at my emails - so far no mention of funerals, but it's only a matter of time!

I seem to have been invited to plan my funeral every day for the last few weeks, I don't think I will bother just yet. Haven't acquired any more grown up children yet though (thankfully!)

When I turned 50 and was bemoaning the fact to DS1, he said "Tell me about it, I'm 30 you know!"

I did point out that yes, I did know because I was actually there at the time!

At 70, they must think I'm past being able to plane anything.

I never get 'plan your funeral' emails. Perhaps I am immortal.

I too am the mother of a 45 year old and a 40 year old but am a mere stripling at 62 -it was the sixties!! No funeral plan e-mails though - yet. what's worrying me is I have a 30 year old GS and a 26 year old GD intent on making me a GGM!!

J52 Mon 06-Apr-15 12:15:59

I'd rather plan my next holiday! After all I won't be there at the funeral! x

durhamjen Mon 06-Apr-15 12:37:20

Mine are 45 and 48, but I was only 17 when the 48 year old was born.
When I get a phone call asking me about a funeral plan, I just say I've got one. Not true, but they do not know. It gets them off the phone quicker.

For those who use Facebook etc, if you 'amend' your age/date of birth, adverts and emails etc that you receive are magically changed to a different age group wink Having said that, it does also depend on what shopping websites you use! Can't win completely!

We haven`t planned our funerals, but we do have a funeral fund, which, after reading about how much funerals cost, is woefully short of what`s needed. All you lot bemoaning how old your offspring are, you`re nowt but spring chickens, mine are 43, 45, 48, 50, and 51, it really does make you feel old when your offspring pass their own half century!

grandma60 Mon 06-Apr-15 18:21:53

I have never been sent funeral plans but12 years ago when I turned 50 I received an invitation with a brochure to look.round a care home.

Marmight Fri 10-Apr-15 18:23:58

grandma60 grin At least it gave you a long time to consider your options!

harrigran Fri 10-Apr-15 18:28:52

I have a 46 year old and most of my e-mails are still for baby and nursery products.

kittylester Fri 10-Apr-15 19:22:12

I have an almost 44 year old and an almost 28 year old (with several in between!) I've obviously got the b*****s confused because I get neither!! wink

Maggiemaybe Fri 10-Apr-15 19:28:25

grandma60, one of our local care homes went one better. They sent DH and me an invitation to spend a long weekend there and see what they had to offer. He was 55 and I'd just turned 50. I was tempted to take them up on it! grin

MiniMouse Fri 10-Apr-15 19:47:10

Maggiemaybe Perhaps you should have gone and just looked on it as a minibreak wink

Maggiemaybe Fri 10-Apr-15 22:46:59

We considered it, MiniMouse. They did sell it well. I think we were scared they would keep us in once they'd lured us in there! grin
