basket full of yellow ticket items

Bread goes in the freezer, also I sometimes find minced beef, I put that in the freezer too as it comes in handy for lasagne and shepherd's pie. Veg and fruit too.
My DH works in a local supermarket and brings all sorts of things. It breaks his heart to see the amount of perfectly good food that is destroyed at the end of the day.

I nipped into the Co op for a loaf of bread while DH was collecting his prescription at the chemists about 5 o clock on Friday. Their fresh bread is really excellent and the 2 loaves I bought should have been £1.09 and £1.29 respectively. I paid 39p and 19p for perfectly fresh bread with the next day as their "best before", and was perfectly fresh for the next 3 days!

My best ever was a packet of 8 individually wrapped salmon fillets, nornmally over £12. They were marked down to £3.50 late afternoon on New Year's Eve, but at the checkout the scanner rang them up as 0.99p

Ours wasn't a yellow ticket item but was in a supermarket sale. It was a cheap mobile phone for £10 which came with £10 credit free. In effect we got the phone for nothing.

Yes. I like Co-op uncut white bread. Could really stuff it.

They are very fair with their yellow tickets.

We are allowed to name shops, websites, products etc. on here, whether to recommend or criticise them. It's not the same as deliberate 'advertising'.

I always go round the reduced items in ASDA to see what is available. As a vegetarian I can usually still get some decent bargains. Most products are still edible. I would be more concerned about fish and meat though.

In Asda there are certain times of day for reducing items I.e. 2pm, then reduce further at 5pm, and then 8pm. I popped in very late one day and came out with all sorts of different loaves and breads at 10p each. Great for the freezer.
