15 hours free childcare - or not?

It can be awkward to actually find a place willing to provide it and its not necessarily at times that its really needed.
Like the much vaunted 'free personal care' up here. Its extremely difficult to access and very often is completely inappropriate even if you're lucky enough to get over the hurdles on the way. Political platitudes!

It is still 15 hours of free childcare. DD1 would would not have been able to send DGD1 to nursery without it. DD2 sends DGS 4 days to pre school. Certainly could not manage without the 15 hours. What do you want, blood?

Very few Government initiatives are what one might expect. They look good when announced on TV and give a good headline/soundbite. After that the politician doesn't care whether the initiative works or not.

As I was picking up one of my GC this morning I asked whether they are getting their 15 hours free childcare for another of her children. She is, but it is not quite what it seems. It does not cover lunchtimes, after 4 pm or school holidays!

It's better than nowt, but not quite as one might expect.
