You know you are really tired when you pop the ground coffee in husbands cup instead of the coffee pot. I think the best one was when my poor mother put her teabag in my husbands coffee, and prepared herself a lovely cup of hot sugared water!

NanKate Fri 17-Jun-16 06:42:06

That takes me back Jing my dear dad always said jollop. smile

The best EVER in our family was my num, getting up for a baby in the night, mixing up the bottle, warming it in a pan (good old days before easily formula) and then pouring it extremely carefully so that not a drop spilled down the central hole in the sink plughole ??????

put a comma after spilled.

Lisalou Fri 17-Jun-16 07:04:42

Oh dear thatbags...epic!

Jenty61 Fri 17-Jun-16 07:43:59

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 17-Jun-16 10:03:49

When I still lived at home, one morning I couldn't find the kettle but the milk bottle was on the stove top. I knew where I would find the kettle, it was on the doorstep where the milk bottle should be. Mother wasn't old then just a bit preoccupied I think, probably organising every second of my wedding ... as she did.

I know I'm really tired when I drop off again immediately after I've had my breakfast, in the middle of surfing Gransnet,

One day at my place of work I was looking out of the window and a couple had put their new baby on the floor in his car seat. They tinkered about with something inside the car and literally 'drove off' down the motorway.

Obviously I took care of the baby and the poor dears had to go to the nearest motorway junction to get back to where they had left him. Floods of tears naturally and they both said they were so tired and he was so new (8 days old ) they just had brain fog.

Like my husband's colleague who, when packing the car for a trip, put the baby's carrycot (with the baby in it!) on the roof of the car and then drove off with it still there!! First stop was a pterol station not far away and, what with observers' shocked and incredulous faces (!) the baby was installed in the car properly.

When we were away on holiday last week, I called my partner of over ten years by by husband's name.

I was not tired. I had no excuse. He heard it.

Normally where I am concerned he has 'selective hearing' but on this occasion I saw the body language.. instantly.

Ha !

When we are in France visiting my school pen friend and family DH finds it funny when I'm tired and speak Fench with a Potteries accent (long since gone in reality!) and English with a French accent. And nobody ever comments. . . . .

One evening I thought I'd have some hot chocolate all made with the powder and hot milk. It tasted disgusting, then I realised that I'd used gravy powder instead of chocolate !

annodomini thank you! I'm so relieved I'm not the only one to do that grin Milkman usually knocks for his money early on Saturdays but didn't today so I could have stayed in bed instead of dozing off in front of you all blush
