My DIL and GS are going tomorrow!

Glastonbury (the town) is my family home, it was absolutely chaotic yesterday with the roads gridlocked. Caused a lot of problems but a few laughs for locals, it's amazing how many people think the festival is in Glastonbury. People were getting off coaches stuck in roads near the town to walk (Pilton is 6 miles away)and someone heard a girl in Tesco saying, to someone on her phone, that she was in Pilton Tesco. He just laughed to himself and thought "ooh nooo you're not, long way to go". My cousin lives in a village on Mendips and the traffic was at a stop/start along their road. One chap was moaning that it had taken them 8hrs to get that far, from Manchester, then his wife realised she had forgotten the tickets!! You can imagine what was said. Kept my cousin amused for hours.

Did I hear on the news that people had paid £200 a ticket to camp in that mud? It does not appeal to me now and certainly would not have when I was 17. I also saw on the news three youngsters rolling around in the mud- totally mad- I am showing my age.

My daughter and her husband are going tomorrow, leaving us looking after the children and the cat. She goes every year but it is the first time for her husband and probably the last if it is all rain and mud!

Ah but the telly coverage should be good.

Comfortable sofa, and the volume up loud.

I had a romantic notion last year (while watching it on TV, sitting in comfort with a bottle of wine) of applying for tickets and reliving our youth. Lord, am I glad now that I missed the application deadline. I'm looking forward to watching the highlights though.

Charley the tickets cost £233 - but that's for five days so not too bad!

I genuinely cannot think of anything worse than Glastonbury ?, probably my idea of hell.

Not one I've ever wanted to go to - musically or the camping! I go to Leeds and Download and have been in some really bad muddy situations but as I stay in a hotel have always been able to get myself and my clothes cleaned!

Hate crowds and lots of people milling around. Prefer small local musical events held in chuches, village halls and schools.

Anyway my taste in music is classical.

Loopylou I agree totally with you. I can see how it appeals to people just not me. A comfy sofa, glass of wine and chocolate are much more my style. Probably explains the extra weight I am carrying too.

I went to the very first one and the third. Only a one day event then, free and then £1 and about a thousand people there. Loved it, but couldn't face it now. Used to love Knebworth as well, been there a few times.
Cropredy is good too if you enjoy the folksy vibe.

Mud, mud, glorious mud, nothing quite like it for cooling the blood!

Mud! My friend was there the day they emptied the toilets out but blew instead of sucked.

We went to a festival in Yorkshire many many years ago (Krumlin?) It started sunny, then rained and blew, our little tie_dyed tent couldn't cope. Then the organisers ran off with all the money and the bands didn't get paid. It was all very weird.

I went to a women's camp at the site at Pilton, in the 80s....was great. Nostalgia....
