My DDs are asking me what he would like - search me! I don't know what to get him either! Any suggestions - he is not interested in: clothes, going out, cars, food.....etc. His only real inetrests is science (he has subs to lots of science and computer mags) and electronics (ditto). I have told them he would just like to see them and that is sufficient.

Anyone got a genius idea!?

DH had never had a smart phone so we bought him one. Family bought me a tablet for my 70th.

It is my 70th soon and I don't want"things".I have asked for a weekend away with DH so that I can reflect ,take stock, and have fun.Would your DH like that? You could include a visit to a science museum.

I have just read that people are afraid their happiest in their late 60s. Oh dear !

not afraid but at. Why do tablets do this?

Would he be interested in a flying experience? A friend of DD's recently had a flight in a jet trainer and she said it was awesome! My son in law is still waiting for the glider flight DD booked him last November - he has had two flights cancelled because of low cloud and she is now wondering if that was such a good idea. I gave DH an Aston Martin experience as one of his 70th presents and he loved it as he had always wanted to drive one. It is my 70th this year and I have asked for a guided day on one of Derbyshire's premier fly fishing rivers. DH is scoping out a bank to rob! grin

My DH got a tablet and uses it loads. How about a show with an overnight stay. Or science exhibition if there is such a thing.

Does he like music? My impossible-to-buy-for husband loves his Spotify subscription, a gift from the offspring for his recent birthday.

Apple have something similar.

Maybe a trip to the Space Centre in Leicester ?

We gave DH a framed collage of photos taken throughout his life, but mostly of the family... (Rather bad copy attached) Each one is about 7x3 cm. Also a day in a classic car of his choice. Sadly he died before he could have his car day but he loved the collage and now it takes pride of place in our kitchen and is a lovely reminder of a lovely husband and dad.
How about a helicopter ride over your local area? ?

Beat me to it marmight (my phone insists you are called marmoset) or Bil enjoyed a glider flight.

My DH was 70 in March. DD made up a basket of some of his favourite things - his favourite gin, some nice cheeses, posh crackers, chutneys, pickles, a nice bar of chocolate etc.

Like the idea of the hamper.

He is terrified of flying!!!!

KatyK- mine was 70 on March 16th. We decided not to to presents- but go to South Africa for 3 weeks mid Nov- the only time we don't like here (and Spring there- for flowers, birds, wildlife). We really neither of us want 'things' anymore ...

I organised a weekend break for the whole family for DH's 70th. We rented a house in the Malverns as that was fairly central for everybody. Both DSs came with families. We all joined in making a birthday meal, played games, and younger DS put together a video tape of as many friends and relatives that we could find from DH's past. It was a wonderful weekend for everyone smile
