I thought the other thread with rose in the title was about naming roses so it made me think if you could have a rose named after you what would you like it called or do you already have one? If so can we see a picture please?

A nice idea for a thread Teetime and roses are my favourite flower, so will look forward to pics.Sadly I can't seem to grow them in my present garden, so have given up on them, but used to have a a wonderful pale pink climber called New Dawn.

I also like roses, especially any that have a perfume. DGD2 has Rose as her second name and quite an unusual first name. I thought there might be a rose bearing her full name, so I researched it. There is, but it seems only available in America. I'm going to see if I can import one.

Sad that you cannot grow roses rosesarered. I assume you have tried planter growing? I bought a sad specimen of Eyes for You earlier this month, put it in a planter and it's now grown and has 7 flowers/buds!

Thanks J52 I would grow many of them if I could, and I have tried them in pots/planters, and moved them around into the sun, they are ok -ish this way, but often become sickly and succumb to rust/ blackspot and other things even when sprayed regularly.Decided that life is too short and roses are expensive, but hydrangeas grow well ( both in the garden and in pots) so have gone over to them, but may still be tempted if I see an unusual rose.

My absolute favourite is Blue Moon a lovely lilac/pale mauve colour. I'd like a deep red rose named for me called Seductive. grin

We have a beautiful white rose called Silver Anniversary, given to us by my sister for our silver wedding. It's my favourite. I wouldn't want a rose called after me, I don't particularly like my name although sadly I'm stuck with it.

We bought a beautiful rose when our Grandaughter was born called Miss Bateman. It's her surname , and now 9 years later she is always delighted to see 'her Rose' in bloom.

Teetime if you like Blue Moon, have a look at Eyes for You. It has some elements of Blue Moon and is really unusual, with a lovely fragrance.
