We have a good idea of what we think it is - a networking site providing support, entertainment and information. But it would be really interesting and useful for us to know what the site represents to you, the ones who use it every day.

Lara I think there was a thread on exactly this topic not so long ago. Lots of people posted. You might want to have a look at it.

Right you are judthepud2. Thanks flowers

Lara I missed that thread so this one is lovely to catch up with you from HQ and to thank you for having done this site in the first place.

As you may know from my posts or threads, I suffer greatly with my health and have had a bad year with one thing after another, in fact the last few years have been pretty hairy.

So for me, this site is a godsend. I helps me through the dark nights, and I don't just mean that the sun has gone to sleep, I mean like now where the alternative to coming on here when I am suffering with jerky limbs and crawling skin symptoms would be to sit and cry, scream, not know what to do with myself. Instead I can try to ignore it until it passes and catch up with my mates.

Through the bad times of my son being a pain, my friends on here have been incredible with their support. I do really miss Jingle though, she is one of a kind and irreplaceable.

I also like to have a laugh though too, my new thread about being pregnant should bring some fun, hopefully. There is enough bad news sometimes so it is nice to keep it light and have a giggle every now and then.

I was thinking though, just before I came on actually, what you all at HQ thought about us as individuals? Do you see someone in a certain light and see their personalities from their posts? It would be interesting to know what you thought about us all. grin

Luckygirl Fri 28-Oct-16 09:24:31

It is the most brilliant displacement activity when there are chores to be done!

kittylester Fri 28-Oct-16 09:44:32

Luck grin - I should be ironing but I think it takes at least half an hour for the iron to warm up.

I can't knit - sorry ruby! grin

harrigran Fri 28-Oct-16 09:53:56

GN has kept me sane over the last year.

kittylester Fri 28-Oct-16 11:08:32

Hi Harri, I've been looking out for you - hope you are ok!

NanSue Fri 28-Oct-16 17:06:37

It's my favourite waste of time and I mean that in the best possible way.

morethan2 Fri 28-Oct-16 18:38:34

Yes harrigran hope your ok. Gransnet mostly means sharing with people who have had the some of the same life time experiences as myself, lived through the same timeline . They have a wealth of experiences for me to draw on if needed, have some understanding of difficulties faced by my own contemporaries is priceless.

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 18:48:53

Well, I expect this to be deleted, but gransnet edits posts. This causes readers from throughout the UK to feel they have to "toe the line".

I am not sure if this is the London line, the Common Purpose line, the SW line etc. Whatever it is, Gransnet has become very cliquey and does not emulate the majority of the Grans in Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 18:52:01

Gransnet does not edit posts, they may delete some that break the rules, but they never edit them.

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 18:55:53

Oh yes they do. Where is your evidence that they don't?

Ana Fri 28-Oct-16 18:58:18

Where is your evidence that they do, Stilltellingthetruth?

I've never come across any such accusation before on GN, nor have any of my posts been edited.

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 18:58:47

I have typed hundreds of posts and never had one edited. The onus of proof is on you.

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 18:59:41

Half term still ?

merlotgran Fri 28-Oct-16 19:02:56

Where on earth would they find the time?

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 19:04:13

Pomps, I will be deleted soon, but they have surreptitiously banned many members. They just ban the IP address.

Wobblybits Fri 28-Oct-16 19:09:23

Banning is not the same as editing. Very few ever get banned.

You appear to be new to GN, yet you called me pomps, are you therefore who I suspect you are, if so flowers

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 19:12:36

i hope you enjoy my "troll" merlot. Get your teeth into the most boring forum on the net. I am happy to give you guys something to get annoyed about.

Young grans have been trolled out of this forum but you.. Merlot are one of the good guys x.

Ana Fri 28-Oct-16 19:12:49

Doesn't sound like the previous poster I think you mean, Wobbly.

Although I suppose you'd remember someone who called you pomps.

Swanny Fri 28-Oct-16 19:16:46

Wobblybits I think you may be right and I don't often say that to a man grin wine

Stilltellingthetruth Fri 28-Oct-16 19:21:16

How do you know few get banned Pomps? GN just quietly do it. Don't trouble yourself Pomps, if you want to lull yourself to sleep look at "unresolved mysteries" on reddit.

The one thing I don't get is how people can make the kind of statements you did, without proof, and seeing the boredom in front of your eyes. A failing forum, with a lack of adverts.

Trust me, they do quietly delete and edit. I have never come across it before.
