Although I'm a fairly regular poster on MN, I lurked for quite a while here before I joined about three weeks ago. In that time I've been called a precious snowflake; accused of having a fit of the vapours ; being incredibly snobby, being satisfied to have something at which to take offence, creating a storm in a teacup, sniping, jumping in on one side or the other straightaway ( as a new poster) but you know the one thing that has really cut me to the quick was being accused of only knowing about 'six quid bottles ( of wine ) from the supermarket'. Anyway, will be having a break now for a few days and when I come back, I promise to behave better and to have drunk some more expensive wine

Ana Sat 29-Oct-16 20:37:22

I refer the cheaper wines myself...

Bye!

tanith Sat 29-Oct-16 20:38:08

Greyduster Sat 29-Oct-16 21:05:10

You pay six quid a bottle for wine?? shock you spendthrift, you! grin

kittylester Sat 29-Oct-16 21:11:43

I wish I could afford £6 wine! grin

wot Sat 29-Oct-16 21:17:15

Under £4 from Lidls. Tesco too expensive now!

DaphneBroon Sat 29-Oct-16 21:17:49

Oh well, made an impact then? hmm

Casawan Sat 29-Oct-16 21:35:25

Yes, and people say Mumsnet's bad. It has nothing on this place, but then, everyone here has had so much more time to perfect the art of nasty sniping. Try Monday night, the worst ones will be probably be out on their broomsticks then.
Oh, and just remember you cannot be in the club unless you live the SE, hire a cleaner (or pretend to), shop in Waitrose (or pretend to), drink expensive wine (or pretend to), have travelled the world (or pretend to), and so on, and so on.
There are plenty of lovely people who aren't in that inside clique though, so chill and enjoy some amusing reading. Just be sure you don't turn into 'one of them'.

merlotgran Sat 29-Oct-16 21:38:37

confused

DaphneBroon Sat 29-Oct-16 21:40:27

Not generalising of course Casawan...........hmm?
I am glad you have stuck around long enough to discover that not everybody - in fact very few people - fit your highly inventive imagined stereotype.
If I could be bothered to take offence on behalf of all the people you vilify, I would.
But CBA
For anybody who prefers MN the door is over there.

Ana Sat 29-Oct-16 21:45:23

There do seem to be quite a few Mumsnetters testing the waters, as it were, on here at the moment!

Swanny Sat 29-Oct-16 21:47:31

Rigby what I'm drinking tonight was only £4 a bottle and I'm not telling what it is or there might be none left when I go back to restock, as it is rather moreish wine

Seriously though I hope you enjoy your break and don't be put off by GNers who've been at the vinegar and consequently have a sharp tongue grin

rosesarered Sat 29-Oct-16 21:48:16

And sometimes the water is hot! grin

rosesarered Sat 29-Oct-16 21:49:45

Hot toddy anyone?

merlotgran Sat 29-Oct-16 21:50:34

Mulled wine?

Anya Sat 29-Oct-16 21:51:34

DB I think Casawan was just having a bit of fun....you know, when people make jokes and use irony. Other words are available, which you will find when you google, jokes, fun and irony, to find out what they mean thlgrin

DaphneBroon Sat 29-Oct-16 21:54:24

Are they big words Anya? You know, pol-y-syll-ab-ic ones? ???
Will I find "jokes", "fun"AND"irony" on Google?
#takingthepissagain?

merlotgran Sat 29-Oct-16 21:58:44

I must be losing my grip. I couldn't see any fun in Casawan's post. Just sarcasm.

DaphneBroon Sat 29-Oct-16 21:59:47

And my old Dad used to say "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit"

Linsco56 Sat 29-Oct-16 21:59:54

Well ladies, I'll be making my non alcoholic ginger wine tomorrow. Ginger concentrate, 5 pints of water and 2lbs of sugar.....Type 2 diabetes anyone? blush

Anya Sat 29-Oct-16 22:00:07

No DB 'fun' and 'jokes' are monosyllabic, that means just one syllable or as I explain it to children, sort of one 'beat'.

Irony has more sylables so you might want to leave that one till later.
