Does Prince Harry not need media attention to promote his various charities etc? So how can expect his private life to remain private?

Grannyknot Tue 08-Nov-16 16:36:40

Lillie I wouldn't normally comment on this topic, but there's reporting on a public figure, and there is shocking invasion of privacy. In this and many other similar instances, it's the latter.

I watched the documentary on Amanda Knox on Netflix recently. The only word to describe the journalist who features in the film (he happened to be reporting for the DM, but he is a freelancer) is monstrous.

granjura Tue 08-Nov-16 16:41:29

racist and sexist attacks are a bit different no???

norose4 Tue 08-Nov-16 16:46:24

The fact that both are'ist's' says it all !!

Iam64 Tue 08-Nov-16 20:46:05

Prince Harry has been brave to make such comments imo. The fact he is a member of the royal family and his girl friend an actor doesn't mean they have no private life. His work for charity is positive. Leave them alone!

Anniebach Tue 08-Nov-16 21:32:04

All he may have done is make the British press not print what may be printed in other countries, Twitter, American and European press will ignore him . Like his mother he knows how to use the press . I think he should have kept silent , he has drawn more attention to her

merlotgran Tue 08-Nov-16 22:28:47

I agree, Annie. I'd never heard of her and although I wish them well because I'd like to see Harry happy and settled, he's done her no favours.

She's a beautiful woman and the world's press are not going to leave her alone now. Hopefully, being an actress and public speaker, will help her deal with all the attention in a positive way.

Eloethan Tue 08-Nov-16 23:57:46

I do agree that the royal family welcomes publicity when it suits them and I also get fed up with all the propaganda regarding a couple of weeks' charity work here and there.

In this particular instance, though, I think it is wrong that this woman's privacy is being invaded and that veiled sexist and racist remarks are being made about her.

BlueBelle Wed 09-Nov-16 06:22:15

I think as nice as she was Diana used the press when she wanted to she was quite a manipulater in that respect This lady has done nothing to court any problem Harry is right to defend her I m not much of a royalist but from human values it's wrong to castigate someone for no reason

Im68Now Wed 09-Nov-16 08:11:14

Here we go again, am I the only one who thinks that diana was a silly little girl and really if that silly boy doesn't like it why doesn't he quit.

norose4 Wed 09-Nov-16 08:35:23

Would you quit your family?!

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 08:49:56

He doesn't have to leave his family,

grabba Wed 09-Nov-16 10:36:26

All negative comments should be frowned upon. I suspect the publicity will do her career no harm at all.
I agree with Im68now, step away and have a private life. Thereis no need for this to mean leaving his family.

Granarchist Wed 09-Nov-16 10:49:48

so breaking into her mother's house is Ok with you? Really??? Making racist jibes is fine? Really?
Trust me you have no idea how hellish this can make your life - luckily you are unlikely ever to have to suffer this persecution. - Rant over.

Iam64 Wed 09-Nov-16 13:15:17

Merlogran, you've done well not to have heard of her. I'm a closet daily mail reader (not in the closet now!). That paper has had endless photographs, Articles about when/where they met, a focus on her dual heritage background, reference to her mother's ethnicity and dreadlocks. I don't read the articles, just the headings as I scroll down the page. The cat was well out of the bag by the time Harry made his statement. I'd like to see all of us, including those in public life, shown more respect and privacy by the media. I expect some potentially good mp's for example, avoid it because they and their loved ones would have no,privacy, does anyone really believe if Harry tried to leave his family responsibilities behind, he'd be left in peace

norose4 Wed 09-Nov-16 13:28:34

When I Said would you quit your family ? It was I. reference to. im68nows comment about Harry being a 'silly boy ' it was to try to highlight the bleeding obvious that Harry is a human being just like everyone else is , born into his family circumstance the same as the rest of us & he should have the right to defend his nearest & dearest just like the rest of us, it really doesn't matter wither you are rich or poor famous or not !!!' Oh & by the way he has fought for this country & lost his mother not what I would call silly or priveleged !!'

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 13:46:06

Why not go to America and complain not here. It's a ploy to stop the British press from printing anything negative about the new love of his life. With his wealth he can afford to pay to have bodyguards for her

norose4 Wed 09-Nov-16 13:57:38

Words fail me ... we are ALL flesh & blood !! & whilst wealth may allow a more comfortable lifestyle it does not give you happiness or bring back the dead or make a relationship easier to navigate .brings to mind 'walk a mile in my shoes' william & harry are a rare & good example of caring human beings They are good people despite their privileges & they deserve a modicum of privacy .

paddyann Wed 09-Nov-16 13:57:41

lots of folk fight for their country and lets be honest he was hardly in the thick of it when he had bodyguards with him as foor losing his mother thousands of kids lose their mothers every year, they just get on with their lives. He should do the same His mother was hardly a role model anyway ,manipulative with the press and the public .I never bought into the myth of Diana queen of hearts.if Harry isn't happy being in the glare of publicity then he should do what his grandmothers uncle did and leave the royal family and make his own life

norose4 Wed 09-Nov-16 14:04:49

As I said originally would you could you leave YOUR family !!, none of us ask to be born but when you are you have to go with what you are!!!!

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 14:06:23

No more caring than millions in this country. They have a choice, follow their fathers dignity and ignore what the papers print or their mothers lack of dignity and parade for the press when it suits them and complain when it doesn't

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 14:08:15

And please, no more of him fighting for his country, he had Gurkha body guards in the short time he was in Afghanistan

norose4 Wed 09-Nov-16 14:09:53

And I think the point is he is trying to make his own life

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 14:35:52

He is not trying to live his own life, he wants the privalages which come from being a Windsor , he does little work, travels the world, he wants the best of both worlds and complains when things don't go his way , he needs to grow up , the man is over thirty years of age

gettingonabit Wed 09-Nov-16 14:52:55

I agree with ab. I'm one of the few who have never heard of this woman.
Neither do I care particularly about Harry, William, Kate and the rest of the tribe.
Just ordinary people living extraordinarily privileged lives.
