DH believes in magic

Well he must do, how else could he explain that 3 meals a day magically appear on the table and the pants and socks drawers refill themselves by magic, Christmas cards which he kindly bought 3 weeks ago have miraculously got writing in them, addresses on the envelopes and any day now they will magically walk themselves up the road and jump into a pillar box. His family have mysteriously got presents which have wrapped themselves and are ready to be sent/delivered or given when same family descend on Christmas morning.
Even cups left on the side magic themselves into that big white machine (no he doesn't know what it is either) and somehow there are always more in the cupboard.
Or is it the fairies?
tchhmm

Is he another like the man in that Aussie Youtube video?

DaphneBroon Thu 08-Dec-16 17:49:18

I suspect he could be the inspiration behind it tchangry

Elegran Thu 08-Dec-16 17:52:28

There was a Victorian concept of Woman as the "angel in the house", presumable responsible for keeping everything magically ticking over - he is a crypto-Victorian!

DaphneBroon Thu 08-Dec-16 17:53:29

Lose the "crypto".

wot Thu 08-Dec-16 18:05:07

Luckygirl Thu 08-Dec-16 18:33:20

annodomini Thu 08-Dec-16 19:15:05

nanaK54 Thu 08-Dec-16 19:20:04

It just may be that your DH and mine were separated at birth ?

whitewave Thu 08-Dec-16 19:23:49

DaphneBroon Thu 08-Dec-16 19:44:01

Rinouchka Thu 08-Dec-16 19:47:33

How come strong, articulate women like you have never put your foot( collective feet?) down and refused to cater to such ditsy men? I would never have stood for it !
tchconfused

Christinefrance Thu 08-Dec-16 20:03:05

It's the same in our house, there is a magic box in the kitchen where all our meals come from. My husband knows how it works - it's not just ditsy men ladies

DaphneBroon Thu 08-Dec-16 20:03:45

Oh DH isn't ditsy but was brought up between boarding school and life in a household where my dear MIL as a good diplomat's wife ran a smoothly oiled operation. FIL did not concern himself with domestic matters and MIL was a "traditional" wife of her generation and a brilliant hostess.
We started off equitably enough before the babies came along . But then it was my own fault in the early years of parenthood when I was at home with the little ones and he brought home the bacon. For the last 30 years he has had serious health issues so has the perfect excuse now!
Anyway, we all know the fairies do itsmile

Jalima Thu 08-Dec-16 20:06:20

is there a link to the Aussie Youtube video?

Luckygirl Thu 08-Dec-16 20:07:50

Is this why your name contains the word broom? grin

Jalima Thu 08-Dec-16 20:08:16

I would not wish an injury on your DB but sometimes a DH suddenly finds out that he can cook after all (or at least M&S does an easy alternative!).

Jalima Thu 08-Dec-16 20:08:40

on you
not on your

Rinouchka Thu 08-Dec-16 20:19:56

Thanks for the background info, DB. It explains how a man who believes in magic is created....
It is true that the mother of sons determines what kind of husband they will be. I was lucky as my dear MiL insisted that her only son , in turn, did the same chores as her two daughters so, when we married, my husband could cook and iron his own shirts, which was more than 20yr old me, still a student, could or wanted to do. We have always shared chores as we both have always worked. Our son is the same.

If my husband had not been as he is, I would never, ever have survived raising 4 children!

kittylester Thu 08-Dec-16 20:30:51

I'm very proud of my DH - he posted our cards!
