Ha ha his mum and dad had an added bonus. Luckily he's an upbeat little lad (plus had loads of other eggs) so he had a laugh at my expense.

Absentdaughter announced yesterday that there would a parent tax on Easter eggs as no one had bought the grown-ups any chocolate. I did give her a little pot of flowers.

I love Easter. Spring bulbs in the garden showing off their flowers. Church in the morning; Easter egg hunt when we came back; Easter lunch to look forward to. Great to see the little ones running here and there to find those eggs before someone else does. Then of course there are the Easter bonnets to make. Wonderful fun for everyone. I cannot eat chocolate at the moment as I have been losing weight so I can have my knee op done, but it is great to watch everyone having a great time. I was given a pot of hyacinth and a jar of home made jam though. Lovely!

My dd woke yesterday to find her dog had devoured every egg and wrapper she had bought ? I've no idea how a dog eats foil but he definitely isn't very well ?

it happens! A few years ago my sister gave one of my grandchildren a present that was about 6 years too young for him - he cried - she gave him £10 to buy himself something else - problem solved!!

meandashy, you do know that chocolate is poisonous to dogs! Keep an eye on him, it can be fatal, sorry.

Meandashy. If the dog ate a lot of eggs, plus foil best to get him to the vets. One small egg may be ok, but a lot of eggs is decidedly dodgey.

It can depend on the size of the dog and the quality as well as quantity of the chocolate too. Our Labrador (who else) once ate just about an entire dark chocolate children's birthday cake . The only ill effects were that she sicked it up almost immediately after and had the runs for 3 days, plus she looked very sorry for herself.
The last greyhound demolished an entire (small) box of chocolates, including wrappings destined as a Christmas present for the cleaner. All I can say is I must have bought cheap chocs as she was also none the worse.
However, if we are talking posh dark 70%+ choc, then maybe the vet would be a good idea. Easter eggscare usually very thin and generally milk chocs so the dog may be fine. Hope so!

A chocolate cake was our Springers downfall too. And he too threw up and got the squits. The dangerous bit was that he became even more hyperactive nearly to the point of fitting - apparently it raises their heart rate. It didn't last long though as much of the cake had ended up on the carpet.

Pretend you're a French grannie introducing your grandchildren gradually to the joys of alcohol. They do it all the time with apparently few ill effects.

My d had a bottle of prosecco from us, and bought us a bottle of wine. Very nice.

I remember my Grandmother giving me a half eaten box of chocolate liqueurs one Christmas when I was little.
They were gracefully accepted by my Mum, who then confiscated them as soon as we arrived home.
I was really miffed as they looked so pretty, those tiny little foil wrapped bottles just asking to be eaten by a child.?
