Are you like your mother?

Or your father? I want to include everyone here. Ladies, woman, men and everyone.
Are any of you like your parent? Do you look in the mirror and see them looking back?

God - I hope not!!

I have my father's sense of humour which is a blessing because my mother didn't have one at all! I sincerely hope that I'm nothing like my mother.

Charleygirl Tue 12-Sep-17 18:37:56

I am more even tempered than both of my parents. My father was very controlling- I am not.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Sep-17 18:40:36

I think that I'm the most even tempered between myself, my late mum, and my daughter. They are both very firey, whereas I am mostly sweetness and light! Although they would say I'm bad tempered and miserable!

midgey Tue 12-Sep-17 19:07:14

I certainly look like mine!

Madgran77 Tue 12-Sep-17 19:07:18

I see my mother more and more in the mirror ...expressions, eyes, mannerisms!!

paddyann Tue 12-Sep-17 19:11:36

have my dads nature and his eyes ,sometimes I hear myself say something thats definately mum ..no bad thing .I am happy to be more like Dad though ,I miss him every day

NanaandGrampy Tue 12-Sep-17 19:13:04

I might have the look of my Mum but if I have done nothing but be a totally different type of Mum, I've done well!!

She wasn't a bad person but not much of a Mum sadly,.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Sep-17 19:14:05

A good few years ago my mum was bent over, polishing a table in my flat. My then partner came in and almost touched her bottom, thinking it was me!

Sar53 Tue 12-Sep-17 19:19:31

I look in the mirror and see mum looking back !!! I think I am very like her in temperament too. I look at my eldest brother and see dad when he was younger.

Greyduster Tue 12-Sep-17 19:23:03

I have my mother's ill temper, but she was an alcoholic and I will never follow her in that respect. When I look at DD sometimes I can see my mother looking back at me, but I think I look like my father.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Sep-17 19:27:14

My daughter and I often say the same sentence at the same time, particularly if we're picking holes in tv programmes, or the grandchildren!

Welshwife Tue 12-Sep-17 19:32:06

The photo of me on my French Health card looks just like my mother but it is not the same when I look in the mirror. I am a real mix of both of them when it comes to traits and many of my father's habits etc have been passed on to my son and then one of my DGS - but DD is his mother. I have feet exactly the same shape as my dad - which the DC found hilarious when they first noticed!

Auntieflo Tue 12-Sep-17 19:34:53

My mum follows me around, looking out of mirrors, and from shop windows, she even used to say things that I say smile

kittylester Tue 12-Sep-17 20:06:34

I see my mum in shop windows but I hope I look more like my dad. I use my mum as an example of how not to be a mother so I flipping well hope I'm not like her.

Serkeen Tue 12-Sep-17 20:58:21

She taught me not to trust anyone, never let strangers in your home, she taught me to work hard and she made me believe that if you had no money then you were nothing.

She put my face in a plate of spaghetti bolognaise once and dragged me around the room from my pony tail.

So no I hope I am not like my Mum

To be fair to her compared to how she was brought up we had it good sad

Anniebach Tue 12-Sep-17 21:02:32

Nothing like my Mum , my three sisters are

nanny2013 Tue 12-Sep-17 21:05:04

The older I get the more I feel I'm turning into my mother - which isn't such a bad thing she was awesome!

NanKate Tue 12-Sep-17 21:09:45

I saw my Gran looking back at me in the mirror the other day. grin

JaneD3 Tue 12-Sep-17 21:18:47

Paddyann you made me weep. I miss my Dad so much too, even though he has been dead for 14 years. I am told I looked like my maternal grandmother - like her, I am cubic!

Imperfect27 Tue 12-Sep-17 21:31:32

Serkeen sad

Physically, I take after my dad's mother's side of the family: short, increasingly broad and bad eyesight! I think I have also inherited his competitive spirit when playing any game - not that I mind losing at all, but as he would put it "I play to win!" He also gave me my love of footie.

In temperament, I like to think I am generally more like my mum - quite even and easy going - I find it easy to 'see the other side' which can be a gift, but also a curse! I think I have my mum's patience too and more often than not of late, I hear her in things I say to my family.

callgirl1 Tue 12-Sep-17 21:34:44

I`ve been told I look like my mother, but have never been able to see it myself. This is her and me nearly 14 years ago, 9 months before she died.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Sep-17 21:37:32

What a lovely picture! I can see a resemblance. You both have wonderful skin! It was worth making this thread just to see such a lovely photo.
