You know you are relaxing when ...

For me, it is when I am enjoying the SECOND cup / glass of something. If I have time for a coffee cup refill in the morning ... when I get to the second glass of wine on a Friday evening ... when there is a second part to a meal because we have made time for a starter or a rare dessert.

And when I am in my pjs, early in the evening / after 8 in the morning - simple luxuries!

What makes you know you are in the zone?

When I haven't had to leave the house all day

NanaandGrampy Tue 03-Oct-17 08:46:43

when I'm reading a book in the middle of the afternoon.

when there is nothing but the sound of the dog snoring ( no tv or radio)

when we're still sat at the table chatting and enjoying a coffee and liqueur after a good meal.

Mmmm ...an after-dinner liqueur with coffee definitely does it for me too. And a wrapped chocolate so we can have a silly / fiddling and nonsensical ' What I made with my wrapper' game too.

Used to be the ritual, veg prep and cooking smells of a family Sunday roast, but those days are rare now.

Gosh Imperfect, for me doing the Sunday lunch was the megastess point of my week, even though I taught in one of the toughest areas in London! I turned into an evil witch. The family knew better than to come into the kitchen when that was going on! I wonder now why I felt I had to do it?

I know what you mean about the second cup of coffee though. I've been up and about and now it's time for the second cup of the morning.......and Gransnet (smile)

Same for me N & G , nothing relaxes me more than reading with no tv or radio. Substitute dog snoring for dog trumping and that's me.
Also the moment when I get back from dog walking and have my coffee with GN.

When I am cuddling my grandson

Imperfect27 Tue 03-Oct-17 09:20:36

Eglantine smile Just 'shows to go yer' that we are all different!

Yes, GN is a big part of my relaxing time these days!

You fall asleep in front of the television while a programme you really wanted to see is on :-)

MawBroon Tue 03-Oct-17 09:25:25

When you wake up naturally feeing refreshed - no alarm, no phone, no dog whining to go out , no DH needing help - just drifting into consciousness when it is light and (if possible), everybody else is asleep.
If only.

A day when nothing is planned, no shopping, no appointments, pottering around the house and garden.

Sunday evenings, when no matter how busy our day has been, we make time to relax, reading, doing crosswords and so on with a ?to hand.

Reading a good book with the dog snuggled up against my leg on the sofa and a cup of Earl Grey or even a vodka on the coffee table.

kittylester Tue 03-Oct-17 10:21:35

Watching catchup TV in the afternoon.

Reading in the afternoon.

Pjs straight after dinner.

If I am found doing any of the above I'm either relaxed or ill!

Kim19 Tue 03-Oct-17 12:22:30

A day when nothing is planned other than a luxurious lunch or a meeting with my children or grandchildren.

Diddy1 Tue 03-Oct-17 12:39:57

Having a lie in without being disturbed by DH shouting "are you going to be there all day"
Then looking forward to reading GN, thats relaxing!

grandMattie Tue 03-Oct-17 12:48:31

Feet up, cuppa tea, TV on some "gastroporn" and knitting away...

Greyduster Tue 03-Oct-17 13:03:06

Just as I am now, in the conservatory, in perfect quiet, ensconced in my decrepit recliner with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake and the whole afternoon ahead with nothing to do (that won't last!hmm).

angie95 Tue 03-Oct-17 13:12:46

When the TV is off, the cats are asleep and the only sound is the ticking of the clock as I sit and read. Sigh ..

willa45 Tue 03-Oct-17 13:20:38

During a really bad (traffic stopping) snowstorm, sitting by the fire with a good book and an unopened box of chocolates on my lap!

starlily106 Tue 03-Oct-17 13:49:04

Waking up in the morning to find I haven't needed to be up three or more times through the night to dash to the toilet for yet another wee.

newnanny Tue 03-Oct-17 14:10:08

On holiday......when day after day blends into stress free bliss and you lose track of how many days you have left and with every day sunny and lazing on beach and eating out.

hulahoop Tue 03-Oct-17 14:35:09

I'm with you star lily and willa knowing I haven't to walk to work in snow is a great feeling although I do feel for those that have to?⛄️

Greyduster Tue 03-Oct-17 15:14:34

Told you it wouldn't last! Anyone want to help me sand down a door? ☹️

Legs55 Tue 03-Oct-17 15:18:12

Sunday morning reading the papers, doing the crosswords & sudoku.

Any day when I don't need to go out, can just potter around & do things when I want to.

Coffee after Lunch & watching an old episode of Heartbeat
