Need a hug!

I have been widowed for several years and have, I think, coped well alone (no family), but over the last few weeks I have found myself longing for someone to just give me a hug -a need for physical contact. My friends are not "huggers" and I would feel uncomfortable mentioning it to them.

Thank you all - I don't know why I am feeling so sorry for myself - there are many a lot worse off than me. Thank you again all you lovely GNs

Call me mad, send in the men with white coats, but here is a suggestion.

Buy yourself a large snuggly toy bear, pop him beside you in bed and when he has settled into his new home give him a bear hug and maybe when you are settling down at night give him another big hug. Chat to him when you wake up and you may be surprised that in a few weeks you could not be parted from your lovely new friend. ?

Hugs and flowers from me too.

Pippa000 Tue 25-Sep-18 16:43:54

I can relate exactly to the need for a hug. I am lucky in that my family are great huggers, but it is not quite the same. I do have a memory bear, one of four, a friend of mind made from my late DH shirts and ties and he sits by me on the sofa, but unfortunately he is rather reserved!

Oh c'mhere oldwoman for the biggest hug ?‍♀️. Everybody needs a hug sometimes. When I was on my own I had a really big teddy bear I would put against my back when I went to bed. Worked wonders to sooth and comfort me. First time Ive told anyone ?

MissAdventure Tue 25-Sep-18 22:25:06

My daughter and I were talking about having nobody to cuddle us in bed, and decided we would market a pillow that cuddles.
Alas, someone already had the idea!
