Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry and cold out there .
Quiet day to today, 2nd attempt at doing a slow cooked beef, have put veg at the base and water just enough to cover the veg so beef sits on top then usual salt and pepper for taste should take 5 hours on a high setting .
Mick

Good morning Mick and all. I’m interested in your slow cooker method Mick, would that be a beef joint or pieces of beef that you are using ?

NfkDumpling Sun 18-Nov-18 07:18:34

Morning Mick, Beechnut and All

When I did beef joints in the slow cooker I thought they only took around three hours on high or five at a low setting. Could be wrong, I haven’t cooked beef that way for a loooong time! I’d be interested too in how it goes Mick.

It’s a lovely clear morning here in the north of Norfolk with a few tiny clouds tinged in pink. Very pretty.

We’ll probably head over to our son’s this afternoon while the light is good to sort out our passports. Hope to do it on line and it requires a photo taken against a plain untextured background with no shadows and he has a wall which suits, we don’t.

Good morning Mick, Annie and everyone from Birmingham, where it is still quite dark, but dry. I have absolutely no plans at all today!

Marydoll Sun 18-Nov-18 07:20:10

Good morning Mick , Beechnut and all who follow. Welcome Beechnut, I've not seen you on GN before.
We are off early on the first train to Glasgow and then change stations for the train to Stirling to meet DD's fiance's family. His parents are dead, so we are going to meet his eldest brother, who we have found out was in my archaeology class at university. That is serendipity or as Rikki Fulton called it, perchancity.
I can't wait to meet him and reminisce!
The forecast is sunny all day, but the cars are covered in frost at the moment.
Mick, I hope the slow cooking is successful and Gilly, I hope your back has improved.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Marydoll Sun 18-Nov-18 07:20:59

Morning NFK and Dora, my fingers are too slow this morning.

kittylester Sun 18-Nov-18 07:27:25

Morning all from a drippy North Leicestershire - I think we had rain overnight.

We had 2 middlesized dgc overnight - it was great! We cooked teriyaki chicken for supper and we are doing fudge this morning! Roast pork this evening!

DoraMarr Sun 18-Nov-18 07:30:16

kittylester, I like the idea of middle sized grandchildren! I’m telling my granddaughter the story of the three billy goats gruff, and your post reminded me of it.

NanKate Sun 18-Nov-18 07:33:29

Morning Mick and All.

You are going to have fun Mary with some reminiscing too. Let us know how it all goes.

We will go for our regular Sunday walk and coffee at our nearest NT grounds, I can’t say house as the large mansion there is now a luxury hotel.

Enjoy your casserole Mick and welcome to our newcomer Beechnut.

NanKate Sun 18-Nov-18 07:35:02

Morning Kitty can I join in your roast pork dinner ? I hope you have apple sauce and lots of naughty crackling.

Good morning everyone; it's a clear blue sky here in Northampton, but looks chilly.
Will have a walk to the newsagent later to pay my paper bill, and pick up one or two odds and ends at the co-op.
Then back home to make my Christmas cake - the fruit has been soaking overnight in brandy! This year I am trying a loaf-tin cake as the usual round one is much too big, so keeping fingers crossed it turns out ok.
Then will either tidy the leaves up in the garden or stay in the warm and watch some catch-up tv...
Very grateful to DSil who fitted a new back door light for me yesterday. We then went to the rugby where we watched a very entertaining game with a lot of young new lads in our first team . Glad to say Northampton Saints won 36-17! COYS!

Good Morning to everyone and welcome Beechnut from a very chilly but bright Fife. The November chill is def in the air. Everyone sounds busy today, travelling, baking, cooking. I'm out with DD and 2 x DGS helping DD shop. Phew exhausted already! Hope all are well, for those feeling under the weather look after yourself. Hope all have a good day.

Beechnut Sun 18-Nov-18 08:02:25

Thank you for the welcome Marydoll. I read GN most days and post occasionally.

Good morning everyone from a sunny Essex by the sea but cold by the feel of it. A lazy day, waiting in for a delivery. Roast chicken later. Hope Sunday is good for all.

Good morning from a dull, damp NE.
Haven't heard from the family so it is probably a stay at home day with the newspapers.

cornergran Sun 18-Nov-18 08:06:33

Morning Mick, Morning All from a bright, frosty corner of Somerset. Last minute family day today, off down the motorway. Little sleep for me last night so Mr C thinks it safer if he drives - could be right smile. Hope Sunday is kind to everyone.

MawBroon Sun 18-Nov-18 08:11:50

Good morning all from a gloriously sunny and crisp corner of N Bucks.
That beef sounds delicious Mick, you’ll have a queue at your door, like the Bisto kids!
Off to Birmingham for lunch to celebrate DGS2’s birthday. DD2, SIL and DGS3 are staying with them having “helped” at the party yesterday. I declined that invitation grin
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Alygran Sun 18-Nov-18 08:25:52

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s so misty this morning I can’t see beyond the garden fence. Hope it clears up a bit.
Quiet day for me after morning service. I have very tired legs after shopping in Newcastle yesterday with a friend.
Hope the day is kind to everyone.

Willow10 Sun 18-Nov-18 08:28:08

Good morning a a bright, crisp East Northants. Several options for today but haven't decided which one to take yet. Talking of slow cookers, I must do a rice pudding! Have a pleasant day everyone.

Morning everyone, very foggy/misty here in Letchworth at the moment, damp and cold. Planning on visiting a couple of garden centres today with my DD as they both have Christmas displays and gifts, we will probably have a coffee and a catch too. Hoping to pop into my niece afterwards as the girls dont get to see each other that often due to work etc.
Have a lovely Sunday what ever you are doing.

mokryna Sun 18-Nov-18 08:37:21

NannyJan53 Sun 18-Nov-18 08:38:09

Good Morning from a bright and sunny Black Country.

I have survived the grandchildren so far!. Taking them to the park this morning, then early lunch as they have drama club at 12.30 for 3 hours. An extended session as the performance they have been practicing for is 8th December.

DD and her H should be home by 5pm!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Anniebach Sun 18-Nov-18 08:43:58

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Hope everyone has a good day

Good morning, Michael and alll GNs. I am at one end of our county and Alygran is at the other but neither of us can see very far this morning because of mist, it seems. I’m ashamed to say I am going through my book of a thousand and one excuses to find one that will get me out of going to watch GS play football this morning. It’s cold and damp and I am not up for it. Now, onto the next page..... Have a good day folks.
