About a year ago I opened a thread about the pseudonoms that we choose to put on Gransnet.
The freshly scented Lemongrove
The mysterious Maggiemaybe ... maybe, maybe not!
Baggs I had such an image of you until I saw your lovely picture on another thread.
MawBroon such a name of authority and we certainly respect your words.
Anniebach you must be little, yet you are not!
And I could go on and on but i won't.
There were some lovely answers and now that we have a lot of new members with equally intriguing "nom-de-plumes", I thought I would ask again what made you choose yours ?
Do you escape into a fantasy world (BlueSapphire what magic that conjures up) , or are you practical (like me) and just put your name?
Please share.

My dad used to call me/sing Carolina Moon as he said I was always daydreaming and I was born in 1955

SueDonim Thu 10-Jan-19 13:55:03

I stole mine from a novel I'd recently read.

glammanana Thu 10-Jan-19 14:00:34

My daughters friends used to always call me Mrs Glamma the reason being that I had to wear smart suits and glamm up for work every day.
When my first DGS was born it automatically transferred to glammanana and it has stayed the same ever since, although the smart suits have long been replaced for comfy casuals.

I'd just come back from holiday there.

farview Thu 10-Jan-19 14:23:58

Mine ..well bit boring and obvious but we do have views that stretch forever..I never tire of them and we get the most beautiful skies and incredible sunsets...

Suki70 Thu 10-Jan-19 14:25:11

Suki was the name given to one of our rescue kittens when she first came to us. DH didn't like the name so we changed it. 70 is wishful thinking, I'm way past that!

Witzend Thu 10-Jan-19 14:31:59

Mine was coined some years ago for another forum - for carers of people with dementia.
Nuff said really.

Maggiemaybe Thu 10-Jan-19 14:57:05

Mysterious, moi? grin

I am indeed Maggie, and my lovely dad used to serenade me with a rousing rendition of that very unsuitable song about the Maggie May who walked down Lime Street and loved all the sailors. When I registered, it seemed Maggiemay was already on here, so I added a little extra, that may or may not stand for my second initial. smile

I fancied being something bubbly blush

NanTheWiser Thu 10-Jan-19 15:02:54

Well, I like to think I am a wise Nan, but maybe I'm none the wiser!

Bellanonna Thu 10-Jan-19 15:13:08

My name would be beautiful granny in Italian. I’m fibbing about the first bit.

sodapop Thu 10-Jan-19 15:44:16

Mine is our nickname for a much loved dog.

Cherrytree59 Thu 10-Jan-19 15:44:16

The lovely Cherry tree in my garden where I would sit in the shade rocking my beautiful first grandchildm.
The tree also shaded his pram whilst he had his naps. ( joy of a summer baby)

Every summer we have picnics with our three grandchildren under the shade of our cherry tree.sunshine

mumofmadboys Thu 10-Jan-19 15:51:54

I tried several which weren't accepted( ? already taken) and ended up mumofmadboys. Our sons are lively, noisy and a bit mad!!

Yiayia4 Thu 10-Jan-19 15:53:37

YiaYia is Greek for grandma and I have 4 grandsons

Billybob4491 Thu 10-Jan-19 15:58:46

I have two nephews William and Robert.

Buffybee Thu 10-Jan-19 16:03:50

I'm another one named after my much loved dog.
Buffy was named after the television show which was popular when she arrived fifteen years ago. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Depending on how I feel she is called Buffbuff, Buffy Woof and of course Buffybee.

Tangerine Thu 10-Jan-19 16:08:12

I just wanted a name that wouldn't identify me but was a pleasant sounding noun.

PageTurner Thu 10-Jan-19 16:10:06

I'm always reading books.??????

BBbevan Thu 10-Jan-19 16:11:43

Mine is a mix of things in my life, and my initials.

eilyann Thu 10-Jan-19 16:21:28

I'm another one who uses my (Irish) grandmother's pet name for me. Is it a thing with Irish grannies that they lengthen rather than shorten names?

luluaugust Thu 10-Jan-19 16:26:23

Mine is my school nickname plus a memorable month

silverlining48 Thu 10-Jan-19 16:49:22

Mine is to remind me to always look for it...not always possible but try my best.

grannysue05 Thu 10-Jan-19 16:53:27

You are all so inventive.
I love the close association some of you have with much loved pets.
Back in the day we had a lovely cream labrador called Ben...
GrannyBen ?

And I`m definitely NOT a "lady of the night", just an ex telephone operator!
