Here we are again. Happy as can be. All good friends and jolly good company.

WELCOME!

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 11:35:13

~Baggs My wee Kindle is very basic. When I get to send, the screen swallows up the message and when I check I discover that it hasn't registered. My language is not for the likes of polite, well-mannered folk. In fact, I am disgusted with myself!

What was the name of the small hotel where we met for lunch. It's not too distant from the Vale of Leven Hospital.

Izabella Sun 20-Jan-19 11:35:24

Lovely. I have just done an infection control check and all is in order.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 11:37:08

We have a new kitchen. All the individual chairs with personal cushions are placed in readiness for you lot to drop in for tea/coffee/cake? Any offers? grin

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 11:40:30

Thank you, Izabella*. You've been appointed the Matron in charge of the menfolk hmm They will be delighted. A gentle hint...don't let any of them take advantage of you. They may appear to be under the weather...but, you can't be too careful.

Galen Sun 20-Jan-19 11:40:43

Found you.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 11:42:43

For an hour, or more, I've been wrestling with sending messages to my Granspals. If you'll excuse me, I must make the bed and wash the breakfast dishes. My tea is cold. The room looks like a heeland coo has gone on the rampage. wink

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 11:43:27

Galen Bless you. We love you. flowers

Mamissimo Sun 20-Jan-19 11:49:46

I’m all of a faff this morning so I need a restorative please....cake, coffee, gin, anything!

My DD was awoken at 1 this morning by an enormous crash noise.....and looking out of her bedroom window discovered 2 crashed cars which had ricocheted into her 2 cars. A poor man was trapped for 2 hrs and one of DDs cars is a write off, the other needs serious work.....and the guy that caused the crash was drunk! It’s brought down the telephone pole as well!

The ramifications are huge for them and it’s so needless. The police say the guys insurance may be invalid because he was drunk!

Like so many of you I am not loving this new year!

I’m going to calm myself down by baking the biggest gooey chocolate cake in the world to celebrate the new kitchen. It will be on the table this afternoon ?

NanaandGrampy Sun 20-Jan-19 11:59:47

ah ha ! Here you are.

I have sent Grampy out into the artic weather ( although the sun is bright and the sky is blue) with Sam for a walk so I am frittering my time away online grin

That's terrible Mamissimo, as you say the ramifications are huge. They will not get the value of the written off car to them, just the book price. It happened recently to our SiL , luckily he works in insurance and knew not to cave and tell them what he wanted . He ended up with 1/3rd more than the original offer.

Right , I'm pinching a bit of cake before putting the washing on :-)

Nelliemoser Sun 20-Jan-19 12:01:28

Galen so very sorry to hear that. You seem to be getting so many health troubles.
(I have just found the new kitchen. )
No wonder I could not make a post.

Nelliemoser Sun 20-Jan-19 12:04:06

Mammisso don't tell me was it Prince Philip again. shock

shock shock shock

Izabella Sun 20-Jan-19 12:05:22

Oh, I thought greyduster was Matron hence my offer of infection control. Happy to jobshare though as we shall both need to be off duty at times.

I have to say my approach will not be draconian. Well behaved dogs and cats will be allowed for their therapeutic contributions to wellbeing. People with coughs and colds also allowed, but I shall be popping in regularly to make sure ALL wash their hands correctly and dispose of tissues appropriately. ? In the meantime a small tv has been installed off the main corridor in the poorly wing. No fiddling with the controls or hogging the remote.

Massissimo sorry to hear of the latest catastrophe to hit the kitchen. Lots of paperwork, telephone calls and general angst. ?

For those in the main wing of the kitchen I shall join you all later for chocolate cake so lovingly baked by a colleague for everyone.

dragonfly46 Sun 20-Jan-19 12:13:04

Soop so good to hear Mac had a good nights sleep.

Massissimo not what your DD needs. 2019 has got off to a really bad start for many.

I have put some cheese scones on the side with some butter and dumped DH is the corner. He won't be any trouble he just sleeps all the time!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Jan-19 12:16:21

Goodmorning love what you have done with the new kitchen soop and the 'invalid extension'.

What a kerfuffle Massissimo, I hope your family find a clear path through all the "red tape" of insurance claims.

We have just come back from our local cafe, where we had a very nice breakfast with the added bonus of no washing up. I shall not venture far from my sofa today, back is still jolly sore and I have already said no roast dinner today. I will try to be inventive with 2 chicken breasts!!!!

Beautiful blue sky here, the garden is looking neat and shoots are popping up, my bottle brush plant is absolutely loaded with "red brushes".

Wishing you all a relaxing Sunday, and not too much rowdy behaviour from the poorly male patients!!!

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 12:19:19

Mamissimo What a terrible shock. I hope to goodness the drunk driver was insured.

megan123 Sun 20-Jan-19 12:26:52

I'm new here but I always read the Kitchen. A lot of you have trouble and illness but your humour shines through. What a lovely bunch of people you are.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 12:59:58

Izabella That's our girl. You no-nonsense approach to poorly gentlemen is exactly what the ward needs. grin

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 13:02:08

Izabella Save me a large wedge of chocolate cake. And don't go putting temptation (to indulge in cake) to the inmates patients.

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 13:05:28

Welcome Megan123 It's lovely to have you join us in the kitchen. We may appear to be slightly insane (at times) but we are perfectly harmless. flowers

dragonfly Fear not, your dear husband will be well taken of by Matron Izabella...

Charleygirl5 Sun 20-Jan-19 13:10:11

soop if the driver was drunk I would think his insurance is invalid.

It is bad enough having one car driven into but two is too much. I am assuming Mamissimo your DD needs one for work. It is nothing to do with her but unless she is extremely lucky she will be very out of pocket, It is not something which will or can be rectified overnight. Very unfair.

kittylester Sun 20-Jan-19 14:21:10

Yippee, cake, scones and somewhere to deposit DH. He's not strictly ill, just getting my nerves - does that count? I think we are both a bit fraught with the lack of a cystoscopy appointment- can the matrons sort that out as well?

galen I don't think I have words to help you so send a big, gentle hug instead.

mamissimo, I am in the mood to swear roundly at the twerp who caused all that mayhem. In fact, I could hire myself out as a verbal abuser at the moment- any other takers?

I wondered about panache putting a brave face on things. I'm not sure what we can do but we are here to listen.

How is macs's rash, soop?

Bertie had a climbing party for his birthday party yesterday. He had 7 of his friends from school and allowed the very girlie Persie to go too. Guess who got to the top of the wall first? The boys were not amused.

I have forgotten what else happened in the last kitchen but send love to everyone who needs it.

I'll collect DH tomorrow if that's ok? grin

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 14:32:30

kittylester wheel your husband into the recovery well. Matron will administer whatever treatment is necessary. She will have him up and running by tomorrow. ?

soop Sun 20-Jan-19 14:34:43

Recovery ward! Not well! Tut, I'm trigger happy today.

cornergran Sun 20-Jan-19 15:00:11

Oh good, a nice new kitchen to give me some respite from the dreaded tidying, sorting and admin I sort of forgot to do yesterday. Trouble is my ever present conscience has encouraged me to do twice as much as I intended. Still, feeling fairly smug now grin.

What a pickle mamissimo, I hope for a sensible insurance response.

Your post mad me smile kitty. There is currently as much space as is possible in our tiny bungalow between Mr C and me. Neither of us have erred particularly, well other than me saying my back was sore after the sorting and being told I had done too much hmm. Your current situation would trigger fraught-ness (is that a word?) in anyone. You two are allowed. Not sure what your week is looking like but it sounds as if you both need a treat. Hang on in there, the appointment has to come soon.

Good for Persie smile. I can imagine the looks on the boys faces. Priceless.

Hope Macs is on the mend soop, and the rash is settling, or at least no worse.

Best be off, admin to accomplish now. Something else left over from yesterday. When will I learn?
