Turn the radio off?
I do, every time Nick Robinson or Anna Soubry speaks.

Vox pops, or sing pops, are also cheap and tv producers have to think of that as well.

Having worked in TV, I know for sure that "making a fool of themselves" is gold to any producer. Look at all the shows which use it.

schadenfreude like sex, sells.

We had a lovely sing along today at our 50+ coffee group....there was a Ukalilee band. Thoroughly enjoyed today .

Esther Ranzen use to go out onto the streets and ask silly questions, in the 70’s

It makes me thankful I do not listen to local radio!

Willow500 Thu 25-Apr-19 06:54:55

What is the theme tune to ET? I've seen it several times and can't think of one! Not that I'd sing it though - I get so embarrassed at even watching things going on in the street so would be hurrying past with my head down grin

I can't see anything wrong with it . Sounds like a bit of fun. You can always turn the radio off if it bothers you.

Grandma2213 Thu 25-Apr-19 00:38:04

Oh to have the confidence to sing in the street and not care what people think! I agree Mapleleaf it's just for fun.

My radio can be switched off if there's something I don't like!

Mapleleaf Wed 24-Apr-19 10:44:33

Oh dear, I must check before posting - I missed the space there!

Mapleleaf Wed 24-Apr-19 10:43:32

theantics.

Mapleleaf Wed 24-Apr-19 10:41:31

I suppose it’s harmless, and a bit of a lift from all the horrible things going on. I must admit, though, that I do groan a bit at some of antics, but it really is just for fun. I wouldn’t do it myself, but if others want to and enjoy themselves, all well and good. ?

glammanana Wed 24-Apr-19 09:52:14

With all the sad news about the World I would say its a good thing and encourages people to enjoy themselves.

Gonegirl Wed 24-Apr-19 09:47:30

The sad thing is that people are so willing to comply. I guess it's just a sign of the times. Whatever that means.

Or maybe it's not so sad at all. They are happy. confused

FarNorth Wed 24-Apr-19 09:42:11

I guess they don't actually force people? So maybe it's just a bit of fun.

Oldwoman70 Wed 24-Apr-19 09:34:37

A local theatre is having a special showing of E.T. with a full orchestra providing the music. Local radio today has gone onto the streets and is getting people to sing the theme tune! Now I don't know why but this really gets my goat. Why are presenters so keen to get people to make fools of themselves!

Whenever there is an item about Elvis they ask people to do an Elvis impression, item about the Beatles - sing their favourite Beatles song.

I am generally quite a calm person but this makes me want to scream at the radio

(sorry I will go for a lie down now) grin
