Anyone else feel strange wearing thiese type of trousers.I bought a beautiful pair today in a linen mix they are such a lovely colour too.But when i tried them onat home with the top i want to wear with them they look all wrong somehow!!! I also noticed that i was very consious of the tight feeling around the top of my knee and lower thigh, i think they may be going back as i can imagine them feeling hot and sticky when the weather is warmer as they already felt like they clung to my leg.

Ah, so it must be the style of trousers then. I have a couple of pairs of cotton summer trousers that fit fine around the waist even now but they are too tight around my shins. Thought that was odd. I don’t like clingy trousers in the heat either.

Are you talking of leggings or Jeggings ? I like them...they look nice with a shirt-dress. I wear them a lot, but don't feel hot or sticky. I have almost skinny legs (I hate my legs).
You are probably talking of more formal trousers.

Linen and linen-mix trousers used to be fairly wide in the leg. This season there are tapered ones in the shops and I have bought some for the summer. I too think I prefer the looseness of the ones with wider legs. Being fairly short, they can be a bit too flappy though! Need a happy medium! grin

Now if only they will stop making T shirts and most trousers out of that horrible stretchy fabric.

I used to buy cotton trousers with a bit of stretch years ago - now the shops are full of fairly heavy-weight stiff trouser, which do stretch but are sticky on the legs and tend to work their way down during the day because of their weight. I have to wear a belt with them and feel trussed up. That is a fabric and trend I hope dies out soon. Lighter-weight trousers for me please! (I live in cotton/linen trousers or light jeans in summer months.)

I hate tapered trousers on me. I have chunky legs so they make me feel like Billy Bunter. Straight legs are far more flattering.

Me too they just look like jodhpurs the old fashioned kind. I got some lovely wide leg linen trousers from Monsoon and White Stuff. The M & S were horrible last year terrible material, rough and looked scruffy almost immediately - I kept them for doing the housework in.

I wear leggings in the warmer weather. Either long or 3/4 length. I find them really comfortable. I am a size 18 but as long as I have a long length top on that covers my behind I think I look ok. (To be honest my eldest daughter would soon tell me if I didn't look ok!!)

I don't like tapered trousers. They do look OK while I am standing up, but I find they are very uncomfortable when sitting down - or ride up showing vast expanse of socks or bare legs. Much prefer straight up and down legs.

Billy Bunter's capacious trousers leave plenty of room for cake! Maybe they look all right on the lucky tall and slim but for we shorties it's not a good look, I'm afraid.
