Wouldn't it be awful to spill your handbag!
Sodapop I do actually use makeup plus wrinkle cream and concealer, and lipstick to outline my disappearing lips. Its hard work trying to look good.

glammanana Mon 27-May-19 18:33:41

I have my ‘going out all day bag’ packed with emergency contingencies- but it can stay in the car (hidden) if I have to carry it any distance. Absolute essentials are in a small ‘bag within the bag’ and never leaves my side. The small bag has phone, bank card, a few notes and pound coins, pain killers, baby wipes, lip balm, reading glasses, sunglasses. But the ‘day bag’ has ............ pashmina, sunhat, suncream, umbrella, spare spectacles, tissues, nail file, fold away shopping bag, spare bank card, plasters, tweezers, disinfect wipes, safety pins, pen, notepad, emergency toys for grandchildren! I like to be prepared!

EllanVannin Mon 27-May-19 18:37:53

Goodness knows but it weighs a ton !

crazyH Mon 27-May-19 18:49:19

phoenix Mon 27-May-19 19:08:29

I haven't put a lipstick in my bag since 2012, and even then it was only gloss.

Actually, I haven't even worn lip stuff since then blush

MiniMoon Mon 27-May-19 19:23:28

In my handbag I have, purse containing coinage, National Trust and English Heritage cards, bus pass and Taste card. Separate card case containing my bank cards, handkerchief, emery board, pen and notebook, sewing scissors, earning needle and crochet hooks.
When I go to Knit and Natter I also take wool. My handbag is quite commodious.

MiniMoon Mon 27-May-19 19:24:22

Darning needle.

BlueSapphire Mon 27-May-19 20:03:37

Purse, bus pass, keys, lipstick, mobile, tissues. lens cleaners and a spare pair of knickers!

BBbevan Mon 27-May-19 20:09:13

I don't often carry a handbag but pockets have lists, pencil and purse. Don't drive now ( eyesight) so DH has car keys.
If I do have a handbag I carry a comb, handkerchief, purse, lipped and spare glasses

DoraMarr Mon 27-May-19 20:23:09

Purse, notebook and pen, lipstick and eyeliner pencil, tissues, reading glasses, sunglasses.
At least, that’s what should be in there, but a quick look in today’s bag reveals two more pens, only one of which works, vintage till receipts, a card I have forgotten to post, a dummy, a toy car, Rennies, a rubber band, two hair clips, a cinema stub and a couple of shopping lists written on the backs of envelopes. Time for a tidy up.

Which handbag are talking about? The out for the evening bag or the usual every day one.

For evening it will contain, keys, comb, driving/distance glasses, paper hankies, mobile phone, a credit card and a £10 note

For day; torch, measuring tape, small magnifying glass, 2prs of glasses: driving/distance and ditto sunglasses. Wallet, mobile phone, make up bag containing comb scissors, nail file, ibuprofen, paracetamol and codeine (for migraine, sheet of Rennies, small mirror and fully charged back up battery for my camera, oh yes, camera and my filofax. So much information in there from maps and books to look for when in second hand shops, dimensions of anything/anywhere needed when scouring second hand and 'antique' shops.

Amazed at painkillers people carry! I have small bags with mobile, specs, purse and lippy. Mind you, your should see the boot of my car. I swim a lot and have a bag containing about 10 bras and 10 pairs of knickers, so I never forget them.

Fennel Mon 27-May-19 21:49:00

I hardly ever use my handbag now. I have a waistpurse instead, with cash and card sections. If I'm going shopping I carry my large fabric shopping bag which has pockets for spectacles, mobile phone etc.
I wear a jacket with pockets for bus pass, coin for trolley in supermarkets.

M0nica Mon 27-May-19 21:58:36

I rarely take the pain killers in my handbag, but I have had migraine all my life, but although it comes less frequently and less painfully then before. But if it starts to develop I need to deal with it before it gets too bad. I also used to get a lot of non-migraine headaches, for which I took ibuprofen. I also carry them because DH also gets headaches sometimes and relies on me having pain killers.

Really although I do not use them often, I worry that if I do not have them I might have a headache and what would I do if I haven't any painkillers.

The Rennies are for car sickness rather than indigestion. Travel sickness tablets are sometimes the equivalent of using a machine gun to shoot a rabbit. If I feel queezy a Rennies sucked slowly will settle my tummy and have no long term effects or side effects on what may actually be quite a short journey.

callgirl1 Mon 27-May-19 22:59:26

I rarely use a handbag, but when I do it usually contains lipstick, perfume and tissues, plus my purse.

annep1 Tue 28-May-19 00:05:37

Goodness, it's amazing what people carry. No wonder rucksacks are so popular! I rarely use pills etc when I'm out Monica but it gives you peace of mind knowing you have them.
Incidentally the concert was very enjoyable.

sharon103 Tue 28-May-19 00:59:56

Everything bar the kitchen sink.
Seriously, tissues, paracetamol, indigestion tablets, lipstick. small bottle of Ribena, purse, pen. till receipts. a few coins, screwed up tissues, umbrella. old shopping lists, small mirror, chewing gum, cigarettes, lighter, two folded up carrier bags in case I go into a shop. I think that all but I'm sure there's some bit's and fluff at the very bottom.

rosecarmel Tue 28-May-19 01:01:47

Rucksack- Hair clips, scarf, pens, paper, audio book, head phones, Tylenol- I usually leave it in the car and keep my wallet and phone (sometimes) with me-
