Harry’s dilemma

Duty calls. I am sure the Queen would probably rather not have to meet the man, but duty is inbuilt with her position as Queen. There have probably been lots of people she didn't like and didn't want to spend time with, lots of things she's had to do out of duty, but she just puts on that lovely smile and gets on with her job. There already seems to be some friction between certain Royals and Meghan, why make things worse by not 'grinning and bearing it' for an hour or two. Think of that lovely feeling of relief when it's done with.... like coming home from the dreaded dentist!

Is Harry expected to go for tea with him?
Given that Trump has just interfered in a U.K. domestic political matter (election of next Tory Leader) I don’t think Harry not having tea with him would count as a diplomatic incident.
Trump will incite plenty of those all by himself!

I didn't think either Meghan or Harry would be around anyway as Harry has an engagement somewhere and I knew that Meghan refused a meeting from the start.

The Queen, obviously will, and possibly Charles and if anyone else, then William surely, but why Harry?

If he didn’t meet Trump it wouldn’t risk a diplomatic incidence, Harry is a minor royal

I didn't think that Harry is a minor royal, Anniebach - certainly he is higher ranking than Anne, Edward and Sophie.

He should go, be extremely polite and show by example (not that Trump will learn any manners at this late stage in his life).

I think the royals are well versed in how to divide themselves in two. The real them and the official version. Harry will do what he has to do.

I suspect that our own dear Queen is in a bit of a quandry at the moment, to say the least. (Has any other "head of state", when invited to meet the Queen for a formal state visit in her own country, announced that they will bring along half a dozen members of their family? Could Trump be any more crass?) I think Harry will simply do what is expected of him (by the Queen) which probably means just turning up, taking very much of a back seat, then legging it as soon as is politely possible!

The way I have heard it, he only called her nasty after he was told what she said about him, even going as far as to say if he became president she would leave the country. Well she managed that one didn't she. Personally I don't have much time for her. I think she is a user through and through.

I thought that only the Queen, Prince Philip, Charles and Camilla were going to be expected to meet him.
I suppose that there is the dinner that the rest of the Royal Family will attend, Meghan has apparently been excused this due to the fact that she has recently given birth and I have no doubt that Harry can find a "previous arrangement " to not be there as well

I get sick of all the Trump bashing. Like him or loath him, he is the elected President of the US and should be accorded at least the same degree of respect we give to other world leaders. Many of these preside over appalling human rights abuse yet we still respect their office and therefore their people. Trump bashing is orchestrated by the left and the MSM who I don’t trust an inch. That’s not to say we should be uncritical - considered, respectful, factual comment yes but not this puerile nonsense
