Lacking in sleep I sat outside in my lovely garden at 4.30am today sipping a cup of tea. The birds were singing their hearts out and a very young fox was exploring . It was magical. Am I going daft or does anybody else do this?

If you're going daft, let me know the route and I'll join you smile

It's moments like this which bring home just how wonderful life and the world can be.

As you say, magical.

No, you’re not daft, it’s the best time of day.
We’ve just returned home after 3 months away and hearing the birds singing in the garden is one of the lovely things about being home again.

That early hour is really magical isn’t it? The birds are so loud!

You're right, it's the best time of day - even though I'm seldom up that early.

However, I was woken by the birds singing loudly outside the window this morning. I checked the clock - 3.44 a.m. !

It was just before 4am when our little friends in our garden started to seranade us this morning, the best part of the day according to MrG he gets the dogs ready for their first walk
then comes back and makes himself tea & toast to eat on the back patio if the weather is dry.

It is one of the joys of life, laying in bed (or sitting outside) early in the morning listening to the birdsong.

Best part of the day just lying there relaxed and listening to the birdsong. I love it.
My old blackbird never fails with his song especially in the rain and I saw him earlier on with a beak full of worms--------made me quite excited for the ones expecting their breakfast.
Glammanana your previous suggestion of a songthrush which I had the other morning could be right as I never thought of that. I haven't heard it since, but then neither have I been awake at 4am since either.

4am glammananna was that a typo or does Mr G really take the dogs out at that time. Please don't let your dogs contact mine and tell them. grin

I wake a few times during the night, and am always awake at 2.30 and again at about 5. I really love to hear the birds singing, and if I can't get back to sleep, I sit in the back garden, at the patio table, with a cup of tea.

I saw the roe deer in the garden this morning with 2 little fawns. Also a badger walked across in front of me and went straight into the stables, ate the cat food and ambled past me again on his way home. Love that time of the day.

It is lovely then but the trouble is that I want to go to bed at about 8pm. ? ?

Fennel Tue 04-Jun-19 19:38:28

Same here Pamela - my body clock responds to the amount of light around. As for dawn chorus, we live in a very urban area, but there's a blackbird who sings every morning from the roof opposite our house.

Juliet27 Tue 04-Jun-19 19:47:32

Oh Framilode - idyllic!!

philly we live by a river and some mornings get woken by the geese. I think their idea is that if they’re awake we should be too ?

NanKate Tue 04-Jun-19 20:44:35

Philly that sounds magical. You should record it for Springwatch.
