When I got back from food shopping today I unpacked my bags put everything away had a bite to eat then went to get something out my purse and it’s not anywhere I have hunted high and lo even looking in the fridge and food cupboards in case I d absentmindedly put it there asi unpacked. Nothing.. I rang the store I only went to the one, nothing handed in I ve cancelled my cards so until Monday I don’t have a penny in the house doesn't that feel bad (no one had tried to use the card) I m really sad as my railcard was in my purse and I ve got some travelling to do next week when two grandkids arrive
I keep going over and over my kitchen and shopping bags as I felt convinced I d zipped it in my bag when I finished shopping of course I took £50 cashback when I paid for my goods, sods law isn’t it
I know it’s not the end of the world but I feel tearful ?

I know that awful sinking feeling when you only think that your purse is lost, do hope you find it.

silverlining48 Sat 13-Jul-19 15:52:15

Sorry to hear that bluebelle, really upsetting and hope it still might turn up, have you checked pockets etc?.

Pantglas1 Sat 13-Jul-19 15:53:15

Have your cry, you’ll feel better for it. Then say what’s done is done and go and do something nice that stops you mulling it over.

What bad luck, and how maddening about the £50. I'd feel tearful too. Did the purse have anything in it with a name and phone number on, so that if someone honest has picked up they can contact you? Or the cash may be taken but the purse and cards thrown away, so worth reporting it to your local police station. Don't let it get you down beyond a point.

Did you drive? It might be in the car. Hope you find it

Smileless2012 Sat 13-Jul-19 15:54:49

Bluebell I'd feel tearful too if that was me. No, it's not the end of the world but it's frustrating and upsetting especially if there was a sum of cash in the purse.

It's good that you managed to cancel your cards before any unauthorised spending took place. Try not to upset yourself by looking for it anymoreflowers.

Dreadful feeling.
I found mine in the footwell of the car.

M0nica Sat 13-Jul-19 16:07:12

Blu belle flowers, irritating, upsetting, lots of negative words to describe the feelings one gets when something like this happens. But sympathy.

BlueBelle Sat 13-Jul-19 16:10:26

Thanks for your replies I know it’s not so big a deal compared to many on here but frustrating and upsetting
I don’t drive tanith I went on the bus and had my bus pass in my jeans pocket so didn’t need to use my purse I also didn’t have a jacket on so no pockets to look in
Literally only had the shopping bag which had a zipped up pocket with my keys and as I thought my purse in Can only think I didn’t pick it up after paying but I know I looked back to make sure the trolly was empty, it’s a big mystery
The annoying part is I had my purse stolen earlier in the year the cards were used before I cancelled them but only for small amounts that were reimbursed by the bank but my rail card went then and all my store cards, EU health card etc had to be renewed Such a blooming palaver

leyla Sat 13-Jul-19 16:10:29

Hopefully it will turn up. Where did you put bag? Have you checked under seat in car/under mats in boot, etc. You might have a flash of inspiration when you wake up tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you.

leyla Sat 13-Jul-19 16:11:32

Have you contacted bus company?

BlueBelle Sat 13-Jul-19 16:18:25

I don’t have a car Layla!
Contacted everyone and no luck

Ilovecheese Sat 13-Jul-19 16:27:38

Could you try the bus company a bit later on. You might have dropped the purse on the bus but no one has noticed it yet.
I am so sorry, no wonder you feel tearful.

SueDonim Sat 13-Jul-19 16:29:04

I do hope it turns up. I'd be upset, too. flowers

Have you checked your garden, the approach to your house, just in case it fell out? Although nothing's been reported yet, it still might be handed in.

annodomini Sat 13-Jul-19 16:43:19

Have you thought about the store's camera system? If someone slid a hand into your bag, they might have been filmed doing so.
If there is any solution, I do hope you find it.

crazyH Sat 13-Jul-19 16:47:21

Try your coat pocket.....or jacket pocket .

dragonfly46 Sat 13-Jul-19 16:58:42

Gosh I am sorry to hear this Bluebell I hate losing anything especially my purse or keys.
Could someone have taken it from you on the bus? Is it worth ringing the bus company as someone may have handed it in. I would also post on my local area site on FB as that can give amazing responses.
I really hope you find it. It is very unsettling.

Jane10 Sat 13-Jul-19 16:59:40

Oh how awful. I bet your heart was racing. I know mine would. At least your cards are cancelled and you have your bus pass. You never know, it might turn up but if not you've done all the right things.

tanith Sat 13-Jul-19 17:00:22

Please will people read what the OP has written already .

Gonegirl Sat 13-Jul-19 17:09:21

It might he daft to say it bluebell, but sit down quietly and think back to when you were at the checkout. Do you remember putting the cashback in purse. Putting it back in zipped pocket? Try and jog your memory. xx

Gonegirl Sat 13-Jul-19 17:10:39

Ring shop again just before closing time. It might have fallen on floor and not been spotted immediately.

gillybob Sat 13-Jul-19 17:33:28

Oh Bluebelle I would be crying my eyes out if I were you ! Might it be worth ringing the shop/bus company etc. all again later just incase there’s been a shift change or whatever ?

As Gongirl suggested try to calmly retrace every step in your mind . Easier said than done when you’re upset I know . I do hope it turns up. x

EllanVannin Sat 13-Jul-19 17:42:57

I'd be beside myself, I know because having once mislaid it in the house my stomach turned over, but it was at the bottom of my shopping bag to which I'd piled plastic bags on top of it.
I hope to God it turns up. I know in my mind if I ever found a purse I'd hand it in promptly knowing that some poor soul would be out of her mind.

Gonegirl Sat 13-Jul-19 17:47:02

Do you usually put it straight back on the zipped pocket of shopping bag? Sorry to cross question you.
