Bad teacher's

Reading another thread about gift's for teacher's struck a chord.
During my last year's in school, there was one particular teacher who made my life an absolute misery and to this day, I can't understand why and I can actually get quite upset over it.
My mum was quite vulnerable and had experienced a breakdown, this teacher delighted in telling the whole class about it.
She'd make pointed comments about my shoes.. always to match school uniform but not the most expensive one's.
I faced endless sarcasm and she'd go out of her way to, in my mind, be hurtful.
Even after all of these year's, I've never forgotten about it all.

That is very sad. A teacher can make such a difference to a life, for good or for bad. I hope these days it's more likely to be for good.

I had several teachers, who took a dislike to me, or withered me with their sarcasm.

In my case I had suffered a difficult medical condition that was resolved when I was 13, one teacher constantly harked back to it and kept asking if I was really well now.

I didn't like it, but I cannot say it particularly bothered me. To a certain extent I just accepted it as being what that teacher was like. It meant that it gave me a big buzz when I left school and knew I would never need to bother with her again.

It was also good to leave school with some experience of coping with difficult people or people who didn't like me.

I have mostly good memories of my teachers. Except for one, when in Infants school. I must have been cheeky and she got hold of me by the shoulders and shook me. As she did this my hands must have touched her so she accused me of smacking her!
In those wartime days many of the teachers were unmarried older women who were embittered, disappointed in life.

I was thinking that too but am aware that my phone autocorrects plural endings to apostrophised ones so maybe not the OP's fault if her's does too?

Eazybee......saved by the bell ?

Dee1012, so many adults sad or difficult memories involve school experiences. I suspect that when we were at school there were more teachers like the one who left you with sad memories. We may not forget but we can certainly not allow those criticisms to made us upset in adult life,

quiz queen - that's one of the nastiest comments in response to someone talking about something they still find difficult that I've seen on gransnet. The point was?

I was going to write 'bad teacher's what??' but I see it has been pointed out already!

Bridgeit Fri 19-Jul-19 13:12:52

Was there any need for that Quizqueen? ,!****.?,/=+-%?

crazyH Fri 19-Jul-19 13:16:17

I notice Dee's post contains a lot of misplaced apostrophes- probably predictive text???

JenniferEccles Fri 19-Jul-19 13:26:24

Normally of course it is not the done thing to point out grammatical mistakes in posts but the irony here can’t be ignored!

NannyJan53 Fri 19-Jul-19 13:31:25

I remember one teacher in primary school when we were doing needlework. I had made a mistake, so she hauled me to the front of the class to berate me in front of all my class mates.

Consequently, I have always hated sewing!

It is a shame that Some who( whom ) have been/ were taught excellent Grammar at school, were not taught good manners , kindness & consideration OR/NOR the ability to imagine themselves in someone else’s shoes, ( if you are one of those who needs to have this explained to you ,then YOU ARE someone who has never been taught anything of true value!

Iam64 Fri 19-Jul-19 13:36:54

Yes indeed Bridgeit. The comments here that focus on misplaced apostrophes rather than the content of the post say a lot about the people who posted them.

Bridgeit Fri 19-Jul-19 13:37:22

Using the correct punctuation does NOT equal an intelligent mind !

Bridgeit Fri 19-Jul-19 13:38:52

Thankyou Iam64

Gonegirl Fri 19-Jul-19 13:40:59

Well, I was too busy reading the original post to notice what apostrophes were put where. hmm

May I point out that this is a website for slightly older women, and we do have 'blips' brainwise now and again. hmm

I posted on the thread about tiny tots graduating about the contrast between my teachers and those of my DGC.

Iam64 Fri 19-Jul-19 13:42:09

Dee1012, in my working life, part of my role involved training adults who were working with children. Without exception, attendees would begin to talk about negative school experiences, that left them feeling vulnerable and hurt as children. That's your experience and you share it with many people. Please don't let the snipey comments here make you feel worse than you did when you posted.

Gonegirl Fri 19-Jul-19 13:43:03

And who on GN has not typed out a long-winded sentence to realise partway through that is being highly suspect grammar-wise? But then cba to start again? grin

I do that.

Callistemon Fri 19-Jul-19 13:43:18

I used two abouts in my post in rapid succession.
hmm

Gonegirl Fri 19-Jul-19 13:43:31
