Should Larry be worried ?

I've heard that Larry the Downing Street cat may be joined by a Downing Street dog shock He's already had some run ins with Palmerston The Foreign Office Cat.........and now this! If a prospective dog materialises that may not bode well for Larry, should he be worried? should we be worried? Who do you imagine will get the upper hand?

Will their relationship play out as a metaphor for something else.

......and what name for such a pooch would you suggest?

Larry has lived in No 10 and No 11

TerriBull Fri 26-Jul-19 22:42:49

Sajid Javid en famille are moving in with their dog. Larry will be surrounded by canines shock shock shock fur will fly is my prediction sad Poor Larry!

Will they pick up, I wonder? Would love to see them in action. Probably the cops on duty will have to walk them and pick up the mess!

Poor Larry- he deserves better.

A Jack Russell will sort 'em all out. grin

The only worse scenario for Larry I could envisage would be if JC won an election anytime soon and became PM. Larry is supposed to catch rats, how efficient he is at that we don't know. What if vegetarian JC refused to give him any tinned cat food and gave him his personal favourite, cold baked beans and didn't even put them in his bowl but expected Larry to eat them out of a tin, just like he does shock

And Larry wouldn’t have the rose garden to walk in when it
is turned into an allotment.

gransal Fri 26-Jul-19 22:56:37

Oh gawd it's a worry for poor Larry. I'll have him!!!

SueDonim Fri 26-Jul-19 23:01:32

Larry will trounce all comers and by December he will be PM!

gransal Fri 26-Jul-19 23:08:25

sue would that be prime moggy?

sodapop Sat 27-Jul-19 08:44:47

In my experience cats are usually in charge. Our cat slaps all three of our dogs if they step out of line smile

Why on earth would Boris Johnson/Carrie Symonds and the Javid family not behave like any other responsible dog owners?
What a ridiculous suggestion about the police on duty (not cops)

It's a wonder Larry has survived living in London with all the traffic or is he just a house cat and just let out for a photo shoot now and then.

TerriBull Sat 27-Jul-19 09:07:46

Larry is there to keep the rats under control I believe, the animal variety that is grin I'm not sure how good he is at that task, nevertheless I don't think he shouldn't be underestimated, he's more than just a house cat. I'm not sure you can follow him on Twitter which is the case with Palmerston, The Foreign Office Cat, also known to be quite spirited allegedly! Palmerston and Larry have regular run ins, well that's Downing Street for you. I guess they could join forces to keep the Boris dog under the paw where he belongs. Talking of which I thought "Bluster" might be a good name for such a hound.

TerriBull Sat 27-Jul-19 09:13:38

Oh good it seems Larry is also on Twitter now so we can keep abreast of any important developments as to the arrival of the unmentionable dog

Firecracker123 Sat 27-Jul-19 09:25:51

Wow he's got 309k followers and me now lol, he got a lot to say for a little ? cat.

cangran Sat 27-Jul-19 10:09:39

Larry has seen off David & Teresa and hopefully he will see off Boris and any dogs asap. Whoever is behind @Number10cat is brilliant and spot-on in his tweets!

EllanVannin Sat 27-Jul-19 10:27:04

Some dogs are wary of cats and wouldn't usually pick a fight with a feline----claws implanted in nose scenario.

trisher Sat 27-Jul-19 11:14:31

Larry has already established terratorial rights any dog infringing on these will be severely dealt with! I hope Boris has pet insurance!

SueDonim Sat 27-Jul-19 13:55:11

Very good, Gransal! grin

TerriBull Sat 27-Jul-19 14:03:53

I suppose the incoming dog could play the role of Bone Secretary although Prime Moggy might deem such an appointment as barking grin

lemongrove Sat 27-Jul-19 14:15:53

If Johnson is considering buying a dog just as he moves into number ten I would say it’s a bad move, but it may be that he already has a dog.
Larry isn’t a great mouser apparently ( I will adopt him)?

GillT57 Sat 27-Jul-19 14:31:30

Larry has seen them all off. I love it when you see the door being opened for him, I assume there must be some kind of camera that alerts a footman? The policeman on doorstep duty sometimes has to pick him up if their is potential photo opportunity which may detract from the human activity. Whenever there is a broadcast outside no 10 I always look out for Larry. I am now off to follow him on twitter.

GillT57 Sat 27-Jul-19 14:54:45

Well, I have just signed up to Larry the cat's Twitter feed and I haven't laughed so much in a long time! That is a very perceptive feline. I especially liked the comment I must be the first cat in history worried about a human getting hair on the furniture grin

Callistemon Sat 27-Jul-19 15:06:45

SueDonim I agree - surely it will be "poor dogs"!!
prime moggy grin gransal

I'm not on Twitter although I knew that Larry has a Twitter feed (very apt - does he hunt birds as well as mice?).
Perhaps I'll take a look.
