Anyone else made a fool of themselves today ? I went out for lunch with a friend and put on a new cardigan just before I left the house. When I got home I took it off and found to my horror there was a big sticker on the back of it. Saying SOFT TOUCH.

Oh that’s so funny! Sorry ?

Not today but I have walked into a glass door before because I didn't see it. I really banged my nose. Everyone laughed although they were very kind once they realised I was hurt.

It must have looked comical.

I think everyone has done something like this at some point in their life, you have to laugh about it ( or act nonchalant)
?
Leaving a tag hanging off a garment ( guilty) walking into a glass door ( guilty) slipping on ice and ending on my bum
(Guilty) gling out for lunch with friends and leaving my purse in a different handbag ( guilty) going out after
gardening with bits of twig in my hair ( guiltysmile the list goes on.

I think I’ll have to start checking myself before leaving the house. Last week I was interrupted when I was putting my make up on and had returned from Asda before I realised I had only one eyebrow on.

Merseybelle...... I can go one better ( or worse) I used a khaki eyeliner for brows not that long ago, but fortunately spotted it before I went out.?

Merseybelle2 I answered the door to a very startled-looking postman when I realised I'd only got one eyebrow on

Summer arrived all of a sudden one year and for some reason I only shaved under one arm.....and went to a formal dance in a strapless gown! Spent the whole evening as if I was wearing a straitjacket!

I have guinea pigs and often go out with bits of hay stuck to my clothing. Not long ago, I slipped on a piece of plastic which someone had dropped on the pavement. Fortunately, I fell downwards and landed on one knee, instead of forwards onto my face. It's interesting that it was beside a very busy road but no-one even slowed down to see if I was hurt.

Did you pay the bill? ????

GabriellaG54 Thu 01-Aug-19 08:34:48

Years ago I opened my door to a courier when wearing a green mud face mask which had dried stiff. When I saw his startled face I laughed, it cracked and he legged it, jumping the gate one handed.
Priceless.

I feel so much better after reading the gaffes of others !

POGS Thu 01-Aug-19 11:53:27

I went to a party a few weeks ago and an old friend I hadn't seen for ages was there and I asked him how his dad was.

He looked at me in an odd way and it made me think what have I said?

I had attended his dear fathers funeral 2 years previously and he was always a big part of our group of friends.

I was beyond embarrassed.

Merseybelle2 Thu 01-Aug-19 13:45:00

POGS - You and I must be kindred souls! I did the same thing a few years ago and asked a friend about their relative. Realising the person had passed away I lamely added, “ Still dead ?” I think they thought I was insane.

EllanVannin Thu 01-Aug-19 13:55:01

" Still dead " hahahahaha.

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 14:02:42

My DH did that asking how someone was after they had died thing. He was mortified.

GillT57 Thu 01-Aug-19 14:04:37

'still dead?' oh the agony as you relive the moment grin

petra Thu 01-Aug-19 14:13:16

Merseybelle
still dead hilarious PMSL.

SirChenjin Thu 01-Aug-19 14:29:25

Still dead

Oh that gave me such a good (much needed) giggle!! grin

I once took a wrong turn coming out of a toilet and ended up on a stage thing in the middle of a solo performance by a singer. She kept singing but looked at me in a very surprised as the audience rolled about laughing and the security guard gestured like mad for me to get off. My toes still curl when I think about it 25 years later.

BlueBelle Thu 01-Aug-19 15:12:06

Oh the ‘still dead’ cracked me up
I always used to ask my hairdresser after her mum and dad I wasn’t close friends but she always talked about them when doing my hair ....about two years AFTER her mum died my mouth just moved without me knowing saying “how’s Mum”!!! Oh I wanted the ground to open
I also got through half a day at work the other week before someone said “did you know your tops inside out” and low and behold it was

KatyK Thu 01-Aug-19 15:17:36

I had that BlueBelle I was helping a 91 year old neighbour in her home as she was struggling to cope. She said 'Did you know you have your jumper on inside out?' Who was the one struggling to cope I wonder?

DoraMarr Thu 01-Aug-19 15:28:07

One school I worked in was very keen on giving everyone cards, not just for birthdays and anniversaries, but also for weekends away and entering their dog at Crufts. One day a child appeared in my classroom in the middle of a lesson with a card for me to sign. Without looking at it properly I signed it with a cheery “Enjoy!” I was called into the office later to explain- it was a condolence card for a dinner supervisor whose grandmother had just died.

Merseybelle2 Thu 01-Aug-19 17:04:46

I laughed so much at DoraMarr putting Enjoy on a sympathy card I had a five minute coughing fit !

sharon103 Thu 01-Aug-19 17:14:27

So funny, I'm cracking up here. lol

Willow500 Thu 01-Aug-19 17:28:40

LOL these are hilarious!! I was getting ready to go out one morning and couldn't find the pant liner I'd taken out of the packet. Got another one and left the house - just as I was getting out of the car I glanced at the cardigan I'd picked up and there was the liner - stuck to the back!!

A colleague of my husband's came in one morning and announced his father had just died - without thinking husband said 'you're joking'!! grin
