Emptying my bedside cabinet, ready to move it and make space for the new bed.

I found a pair of black tights, about 30 denier, no ladders or holes.

Now I haven't worn tights for around 15 years ! So these are remarkable historical items.

Question is do I throw them, keep them in case I want to wear them,( or put then over my head so I rob a bank) or do I notify the V&A museum in case they want them for display ?

It will need a glass case, all its own.

If you’re likely to get run over by a bus, then wear ‘em.....

DanniRae Thu 01-Aug-19 20:42:16

Keep 'em.........you never know when you might go to a "Tarts and Vicars" evening!! shock

Merseybelle2 Thu 01-Aug-19 20:48:08

Yes you’ll need them if you’re dressing as a Vicar !

I gave 2 pairs of black tights I’d bought years ago for a funeral to my 14 yr old GD to wear to school (she won’t wear sock) one pair was new the other worn once. She was pleased to get them I didn’t tell her how old they were ?

Tights are good for hanging marrows or pumpkins up for longer-term storage.
Also, to hang up your marrow if making marrow "rum".

Just wear them for funerals---hopefully they'll last another 15 years.

Many thanks for all the suggestions, tight consigned to the potting shed to be cut up and used as plant ties.

Have real fun with them , pull them tight on your head and chase the grandchildren . It scares them - I love doing that !

Are you confessing to not clearing out your bedside cabinet for 15 years? shock

I'm amazed you only found tights smile

Hetty58 Wed 07-Aug-19 05:22:31

BradfordLass72, anyone who crams things into drawers will find 'escaped' items behind or under them when furniture is taken apart for moving.

I lost my address/phone book once and found it several years later. It was behind a (very heavy) sideboard on top of the skirting. Yes, I had hoovered behind there, but obviously not very well!

I must have a look in my bed-side cabinet!

kittylester Wed 07-Aug-19 08:02:27

My bedside cabinet is a chest of drawers- I dont intend sorting that out if I can help it - ever.

Nandalot Wed 07-Aug-19 09:03:01

Tiredoldwoman, judging from your post you are anything but! smile

Maybelle Wed 07-Aug-19 09:34:31

Never mind not clearing out the cabinet for 15years, I have also moved house 3 times and had 3 different cabinets in those 15years !
I just shifted everything over each time, I did tidy, and throw away a few things but the tights stayed on the grounds that one day . . . ?

Maybe I should declutter the under stairs cupboard next ?

???

Mind you I have to locate the under stairs cupboard first, I live in a bungalow !

Could they belong to someone else ?

Hetty58 Wed 07-Aug-19 16:31:36

We found somebody's tights behind a radiator when we moved in here!
