My better half has often given me presents out of the blue - most are great, including flowers, plants, clothes that fit, helpful/useful things (most recent being one of those things to open bottles & jars as I was having difficulty - only failed once in 8 months, and I was particularly poorly & weak that day, so love that). He did buy me an airfix-type model kit he thought I'd like as I do jigsaw puzzles and like crossword/sudoku/ puzzle books - that is still in the back of a cupboard in the box - think it was a plane or something to make! He does the shopping and most of the time gets it right, brings me nice treats - but every now and then he'll come back with something weird (luckily 'our' foxes will try most things). When he worked in an office he once came home and gave me a huge bouquet (think Del Boy in the Only Fools and Horses episode when he first met Raquel - but lovely posh flowers) and explained how a woman in his office had been sent them by an ex she'd punched on the nose and split up with for cheating on her - she was going to bin the flowers so my better half said he'd give them to me instead - apparently all the office thought he'd lie about where he got them - he didn't, and I loved and appreciated them - I'm a very practical person and hate wastefulness - in fact there were so many flowers my neighbour got a vaseful too. I said perhaps she should kick him if he tries to contact her again and I might get champagne and chocolates to go with the bouquet giggling. He posts my competition postcard entries even though he has an aversion to posting letters - things like that remind me I'm loved when I am having bad days.
Love some of the posts on this thread - hoping I remember the pussy willow one to tell him and his business partner when they get back (yes, they are still working weekends - the joys of being self-employed). Keep them coming.
